conjuring 2 1.PNG

I was generally impressed by 2013's The Conjuring, a very well done and genuinely scary ghost story. Director James Wan is back with The Conjuring 2, along with Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. I have high expectations and if the below trailer is any indication, this will be well worth the wait. Check it out.

I know about as much about World of Warcraft as I do about advanced calculus, and I use the calculator on my phone to figure out a 20% tip. Seriously. But this movie actually looks pretty cool, check out the trailer below.

In many ways former SNL star turned actor Andy Samberg reminds me of Will Ferrell. Yes they both have SNL as their claim to fame, but they are both also very much love them or hate them type of actors. I personally enjoy both actors even though certain roles they play are much too over the top. Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping looks like it will be funny and the fact that Judd Apatow is producing gives me a reason to be excited. Check out the trailer below.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows

March 19, 2016

Director Dave Green

Genre Action | Adventure | Comedy

Cast Megan Fox, Will Arnette, Stephen Amell, Allen Ritchson

Rating PG-13

Release Date June 3rd, 2016

“The Turtles return to save the city from a dangerous threat.”
ninja turtles 1.JPG

I was the biggest TMNT fan growing up. I remember getting the Ninja Turtle van for one of my birthdays and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. The earlier films always had a dark feel to them which I enjoyed (they also were not CGI) and they always made me crave pizza. Delicious cheese pizza. Although the films have grown to be much more lighthearted and goofy and have also adopted the CGI approach, they are still enjoyable. 2014's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was an enjoyable film even though it was ripped apart by critics. I had some nostalgic moments and that was enough for me. They also added Megan Fox who is also in Out of the Shadows. She isn't much of an actress but she is very, very easy on the eyes. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows hits theaters this summer and I can't wait for some good old fashioned fun. Check out the trailer below.

The Do Over

March 18, 2016

Director Steven Brill

Genre Comedy

Cast Adam Sandler, David Spade, Paula Patton, Kathryn Hahn

Rating Unrated

Release Date May 27th, 2016

“Two down-on-their-luck guys decide to fake their own deaths and start over with new identities, only to find the people they’re pretending to be are in even deeper trouble.”
the do over 1.PNG

Let's be honest, Adam Sandler cares about one thing, and one thing only, making money. But I respect that, on one hand it is quite an accomplishment to release movie after movie with critic ratings as close to zero as mathematically possible and still make a solid return. He has mastered this fine art, whatever that may be. Can Sandler churn out a legitimately funny movie worth watching? Sure he can, and The Do Over may or may not be one of those movies. It will release exclusively via Netflix streaming on May 27th. Check out the trailer below.

Directed by James Bobin who also directed The Muppets and Muppets Most Wanted, Alice Through the Looking Glass stars Johnny Depp, Ann Hathaway, and Mia Wasakowska. The film also includes Alan Rickman in his final role as the voice of the Blue Caterpiller. Johnny Depp is quite a strange character when it comes to roles such as this but he always does one heck of a job. Produced by creative mind Tim Burton, it looks pretty good. Alice Through the Looking Glass will release in Real D 3D and IMAX 3D on May 27th. Check out the trailer below.

Rating R

Release Date May 20th, 2016

“A private eye investigates the apparent suicide of a fading porn star in 1970s Los Angeles and uncovers a conspiracy.”
the nice guys 1.PNG

From director Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang bang, Iron Man 3) who also co-wrote the script, The Nice Guys stars Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe and looks to be some good old fashioned 1970's shoot-em-up fun. Gosling and Crowe are both amazing actors (although Crowe has made some bad script decisions in the past) and I think they will have impeccable chemistry in this action/comedy. I can't speak for everyone but I am very excited for the May 20th release. Check out the official trailer below and see what you think.

Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, the sequel to the successful 2014 film, is directed by Nicholas Stoller. Stoller directed the first film and also directed a few other hilarious comedies including Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Get Him to the Greek. Captain America: Civil War

March 16, 2016

Director Anthony Russo, Joe Russo

Genre Action | Sci-Fi | Thriller

Cast Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan

Rating PG-13

Release Date May 6th, 2016

“Political interference in the Avengers’ activities causes a rift between former allies Captain America and Iron Man.”

We have quite a few successful comic book turned film franchises to hang our hats on these days so it can be tough to choose a favorite. If I had to pick I would lean towards Captain America , I mean the guy is the embodiment of what a superhero should be, good looking, super fit, high moral compass, and most importantly a die-hard New England born Patriots fan.

Captain America: Civil War looks like it will be absolutely amazing and may potentially blow The Winter Soldier out of the water, which was also very good. Things get a little hot and heated for The Avengers on May 6th so be sure to mark your calendars and check out the trailer below. It gives me chills each and every time I watch it.

Didn't quite do it for you? Well you are certainly high maintenance that's for sure. Lucky for you we have another trailer with a special guest appearance from yet another superhero. Check it out below.

March 16, 2016

Director Jodie Foster

Genre Crime | Drama | Thriller

Cast Julia Roberts, George Clooney, Jack O'Connell, Caitriona Balfe

Rating R

Release Date May 13th, 2016

“In the real-time, high stakes thriller Money Monster, financial TV host Lee Gates (George Clooney) and his producer Patty (Julia Roberts) are put in an explosive situation when an irate investor (Jack O’Connell) takes over their studio.”
money monster 1.JPG

Directed by actress turned director Jodie Foster, who has an impressive 75 acting credits on her resume, Money Monster stars Julia Roberts, George Clooney, and Jack O'Connell. The film is a thrilling take on the ups and downs of the stock market and what can happen when someone truly feels like they have nothing to lose. I am a huge George Clooney fan and Julia Roberts always aims to please as well so I am excited for Money Monster. A fun fact is that the screenplay was featured in the 2014 Blacklist; a list of the "most liked" unmade scripts of the year. Check out the trailer below.
