Birds of Prey

January 24, 2017

Director Cathy Yan

Genre Action | Adventure | Crime

Cast Margot Robbie, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ewan McGregor, Bojana Novakovic

Rating R

Release Date February 7th, 2020

“After splitting with the Joker, Harley Quinn joins superheroes Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya to save a young girl from an evil crime lord.”

From director Cathy Yan, Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn finally brings the sociopathic head-turner to the forefront. After splitting with the Joker, Harley Quinn joins superheroes Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya to save a young girl from an evil crime lord. Check out the official trailers below!!

Ted Takes Fun Facts, Birds of Prey:

  • Produced under the working title of "Fox Force Five." Fox Force Five was the name of a fictional television show that never made it past the production of its pilot in the movie Pulp Fiction (1994).

  • Margot Robbie pitched the idea of Birds of Prey to DC and Warner Bros. as a female-led superhero action movie and they agreed with her vision. "I think there's a perception that a PG female-led action film is kind of considered a chick flick," says Robbie, which is why we're going to see an R-rated version of the story. In addition to starring in the upcoming movie, Robbie is also on board as producer with her LuckyChap production company, so her hands are all over the project. Birds of Prey is LuckyChap's largest project to date at $75 million.

“A girl and her younger brother unwittingly stumble upon the house of an evil witch in the dark woods.”

From director Oz Perkins (The Blackcoat’s Daughter, I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House), Gretel & Hansel is a horror thriller that takes place a long time ago in a distant fairy tale countryside and follows a young girl who leads her little brother into a dark wood in desperate search of food and work, only to stumble upon a nexus of terrifying evil. Check out the official trailer below!!

Ted Takes Fun Facts, Gretel & Hansel:

  • Director Oz Perkins stated the title was changed because this version focuses on Gretel, who is older: "It's awfully faithful to the original story. It's got really only three principal characters: Hansel, Gretel, and the Witch. We tried to find a way to make it more of a coming of age story. I wanted Gretel to be somewhat older than Hansel, so it didn't feel like two twelve-year-olds -- rather a sixteen-year-old and an eight-year-old. There was more of a feeling like Gretel having to take Hansel around everywhere she goes, and how that can impede one's own evolution, how our attachments and the things that we love can sometimes get in the way of our growth."
