Best. Christmas. Ever! is a 2023 American Christmas romantic comedy film directed by Mary Lambert (Pet Sematary) and written by Todd Gallicano and Charles Shyer. The film stars Heather Graham (Boogie Nights, The Hangover), Brandy Norwood (Cinderella, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer), Matt Cedeño, and Jason Biggs (American Pie film series).

When a twist of fate lands Charlotte (Graham) and her family at her old college friend Jackie’s (Norwood) house only days before Christmas, she seizes the opportunity to prove her old friend’s life isn’t as wonderful as it seems from her holiday newsletter.

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off is an upcoming animated streaming television series developed by Bryan Lee O'Malley and BenDavid Grabinski for Netflix. The series is based on the Scott Pilgrim graphic novels written and drawn by O'Malley, with the cast of the 2010 film adaptation reprising their roles.

When Evil Lurks (Spanish: Cuando acecha la maldad) is a 2023 supernatural psychological horror film written and directed by Demián Rugna (You Don't Know Who You're Talking Too, Terrified). An international co-production of Argentina and the United States, the film stars Ezequiel Rodriguez, Demián Salomon, Luis Ziembrowski, Silvia Sabater, and Marcelo Michinaux.

The film was theatrically released by IFC Films on October 6, followed by a release on the Shudder streaming service, as well as AMC+, on October 27. Watch the official trailer below.

David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived is a 2023 documentary film about David Holmes, a stunt double who was paralyzed after an on-set accident during the filming of one of the Harry Potter films.

As Daniel Radcliffe’s stunt double in the Harry Potter films, David Holmes’ work has been seen worldwide by millions of people. Tragically an on-set accident ended what David calls “the best job in the world,” leaving him paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair. Like the on-screen character he helped bring to life, David is determined to continue seeking adventure and living life to the fullest despite mounting obstacles.

A Murder at the End of the World

A Murder at the End of the World (originally titled Retreat) is an American psychological thriller drama television miniseries created by Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij for FX. It stars Emma Corrin (The Crown, My Policeman) as an amateur detective who attempts to solve a murder at a secluded retreat. The supporting cast includes Marling (Another Earth, I Origins) herself, Clive Owen (Closer, Children of Men), and Harris Dickinson (Triangle of Sadness, Where the Crawdads Sing).

Gen Z amateur sleuth and tech-savvy hacker Darby Hart (Corrin) and eight other guests are invited by a reclusive billionaire to participate in a retreat at a remote location. When one of the other guests is found dead, Darby must use her skills to prove it was murder before the killer takes another life.

The series, which marks the second television project by Marling and Batmanglij after The OA, premiered its first two episodes on Hulu on November 14, 2023, with the rest dropping weekly until December 19, 2023. Watch the official trailer below.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a 2023 horror slasher film directed by Eli Roth (Hostel, Death Wish) and produced by Roger Birnbaum, from a screenplay written by Roth and Jeff Rendell (Cabin Fever). It is based on Roth's mock trailer of the same name from his film Grindhouse (2007), which Rendell was also a co-writer.

A mysterious serial killer, known only as "John Carver", comes to a small town in Massachusetts with the intention of creating a Thanksgiving carving board out of the town's inhabitants.

The film stars Addison Rae, Patrick Dempsey, Milo Manheim, Gina Gershon, and Rick Hoffman.

Next Goal Wins

Next Goal Wins is a 2023 biographical sports comedy drama directed and co-written by uber-talented Academy Award Winner Taika Waititi (Jojo Rabbit, Thor: Ragnarok), who wrote the screenplay for the film with Iain Morris (Flight of the Conchords, What We Do in the Shadows). Filming took place in Honolulu.

The true story of the American Samoa soccer team, infamous for their brutal 31-0 FIFA loss in 2001. With the World Cup Qualifiers approaching, the team hires down-on-his-luck, maverick coach Thomas Rongen (Michael Fassbender) hoping he will turn the world’s worst soccer team around in this heartfelt underdog comedy.

The cast includes Michael Fassbender, Elisabeth Moss, Oscar Kightley, Uli Latukefu, Rachel House, Kaimana, David Fane, Beulah Koale, Chris Alosio, Taika Waititi, Will Arnett, and Rhys Darby.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes is an upcoming American science fiction action thriller film directed by Francis Lawrence from a screenplay by Michael Lesslie and Michael Arndt, based on the 2020 novel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins.

The film serves as a prequel to The Hunger Games (2012) and is the fifth installment in The Hunger Games film series. It stars Tom Blyth, Rachel Zegler, Peter Dinklage, Hunter Schafer, Josh Andrés Rivera, Jason Schwartzman, and Viola Davis.

Set 64 years before the first film, its plot follows young Coriolanus Snow (Blyth), his relationship with the Hunger Games tribute Lucy Gray Baird (Zegler), and the events that eventually lead him on the path to becoming the tyrannical leader of Panem.

Trolls Band Together

Trolls Band Together is a 2023 animated musical comedy film directed by Walt Dohm, from a screenplay by Elizabeth Tippet. It is based on Good Luck Trolls dolls by Thomas Dam, and is the sequel to the 2020 film Trolls World Tour, and the 3rd film in the Trolls franchise.

Poppy discovers that Branch and his four brothers were once part of her favorite boy band. When one of his siblings, Floyd, gets kidnapped by a pair of nefarious villains, Branch and Poppy embark on a harrowing and emotional journey to reunite the other brothers and rescue Floyd from a fate even worse than pop culture obscurity.

The impressive cast of voice actors includes Anna Kendrick, Justin Timberlake, Camila Cabello, Eric André, Troye Sivan, Kid Cudi, Daveed Diggs, RuPaul, Amy Schumer, Andrew Rannells, and Zosia Mamet.

Please Don't Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain is a 2023 comedy adventure film directed by Paul Briganti (Saturday Night Live), from a screenplay by Ben Marshall, John Higgins, and Martin Herlihy. The film is produced by Judd Apatow and Jimmy Miller.

John Goodman narrates the adventure of Ben, Martin, and John, three childhood friends turned deadbeat co-workers, who fend off hairless bears, desperate park rangers (played by Meg Stalter and X Mayo) and a hypocritical cult leader (Bowen Yang) in the hopes of finding a priceless treasure, only to discover that finding the treasure is the easiest part of their journey.

The full cast includes Martin Herlihy, John Higgins, and Ben Marshall, who also wrote the screenplay, and also stars Conan O’Brien, Nichole Sakura, Bowen Yang, Cedric Yarbrough, Sunita Mani, Megan Stalter, X Mayo, and the voice of John Goodman.

Dashing Through the Snow

Dashing Through the Snow is an upcoming American Christmas fantasy comedy film directed by Tim Story (Fantastic Four, The Blackening), written by Scott Rosenberg, and starring Ludacris (Fast and Furious film series), Teyonah Parris (WandaVision, Candyman), and Lil Rel Howery (Get Out, Free Guy).

Eddie Garrick (Ludacris) is a good-hearted man who has turned his back on Christmas due to a traumatic childhood experience. At the request of his wife Allison Garrick (Parris), from whom he is separated, Eddie takes his 9-year-old daughter Charlotte (Madison Skye Validum) to work with him on Christmas Eve, where they meet a mysterious man in a red suit named Nick (Howery). Eddie, who is a social worker, thinks the man is delusional and needs professional help, but when he evokes the wrath of a local politician, he and his daughter are taken on a magical adventure that just might restore his faith in Christmas.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is an upcoming American television series created by Chris Black and developed by Black and Matt Fraction for the streaming service Apple TV+, based on Godzilla by Toho Co., Ltd. Produced by Legendary Television, Safehouse Pictures and Toho Co., Ltd, it is the sixth installment and the second television series in the MonsterVerse franchise. The series follows members of the organization Monarch as they encounter Godzilla and other monsters, known as "Titans", over the span of a half-century, following the events of Godzilla (2014). Black serves as showrunner.

Following the epic battle between Godzilla and the MUTOs that leveled San Francisco and the shocking revelation that monsters are real, two siblings, following in their father's footsteps, uncover their family's connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch. Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw, taking place in the 1950s and half a century later where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows. The dramatic saga — spanning three generations — reveals buried secrets and the ways that epic, earth-shattering events can reverberate through our lives.

The series stars Kurt Russell, Wyatt Russell, Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, Joe Tippett, and Elisa Lasowski. Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is scheduled to premiere on Apple TV+ on November 17, 2023. Watch the official trailer below.

Rustin

Rustin is a 2023 American biographical drama film directed by George C. Wolfe (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom), from a screenplay by Julian Breece and Dustin Lance Black, and a story by Breece about the life of civil rights activist Bayard Rustin.

Produced by Barack and Michelle Obama's production company Higher Ground Productions, the film stars Colman Domingo (Euphoria, Candyman) in the title role, alongside Chris Rock, Glynn Turman, Aml Ameen, CCH Pounder, Michael Potts, Jeffrey Wright and Audra McDonald. It is based on the true story of Rustin, who helped Martin Luther King Jr. and others organize the 1963 March on Washington.

Rustin premiered at the Telluride Film Festival on August 31, 2023, and was for the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival on September 13, 2023. It is scheduled to be released in select theaters on November 3, 2023, before its streaming release on November 17, 2023, by Netflix. Watch the official trailer below.

The Marvels

The Marvels is an upcoming American superhero film based on Marvel Comics featuring the characters Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel, Monica Rambeau, and Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is intended to be the sequel to the film Captain Marvel (2019), a continuation of the television series Ms. Marvel (2022), and the 33rd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

The film is directed by Nia DaCosta from a screenplay she co-wrote with Megan McDonnell, Elissa Karasik, and Zeb Wells. It stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, and Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, alongside Samuel L. Jackson, Zawe Ashton, and Park Seo-jun. In the film, Danvers, Rambeau, and Khan begin swapping places with each other every time they use their powers and must team up.

Marvel Studios confirmed plans to make a sequel to Captain Marvel in July 2019, and development began in January 2020 with McDonnell joining and Larson set to return. DaCosta was hired that August, with Parris and Vellani revealed to be cast in December. Second unit filming began in mid-April 2021 in New Jersey, with the title revealed in early May. Principal photography had begun by early August 2021 and concluded by mid-May 2022, taking place at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire and Longcross Studios in Surrey, England, as well as in Los Angeles and Tropea, Italy. The other screenwriters were revealed during post-production.

The Killer is a 2023 American neo-noir action thriller film directed by David Fincher (Fight Club, Gone Girl) from a screenplay by Andrew Kevin Walker. It is based on the French graphic novel series of the same name written by Alexis "Matz" Nolent and illustrated by Luc Jacamon. The film stars Michael Fassbender in the title role, alongside Arliss Howard, Charles Parnell, Kerry O'Malley, Sala Baker, Sophie Charlotte, and Tilda Swinton.

After a fateful near-miss, an assassin battles his employers, and himself, on an international manhunt he insists isn’t personal.

The Killer premiered at the 80th Venice International Film Festival on September 3, 2023, and had a limited theatrical release on October 27, 2023; it is scheduled to begin streaming on November 10, 2023, by Netflix. Watch the official trailer below.

The Holdovers

The Holdovers is a 2023 American comedy-drama film directed by Alexander Payne (Election, Nebraska) and written by David Hemingson. The film stars Paul Giamatti (The Truman Show, Sideways), Da'Vine Joy Randolph (Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, The Idol), and Dominic Sessa.

Set in the early 1970s, the film follows Paul Hunham (Giamatti), a disliked teacher at Barton Academy, who's responsible for supervising students who are unable to return home for the Christmas holidays. During this process, Paul is forced to deal with one particularly rebellious but troubled student, Angus (Sessa), who is grieving the loss of his father.

The Holdovers premiered at the 50th Telluride Film Festival on August 31, 2023, and is scheduled for a limited theatrical release in the United States on October 27, 2023, followed by a wide release on November 10, 2023, by Focus Features. Watch the official trailer below.

Manodrome

Manodrome is a 2023 drama thriller film written and directed by John Trengove (The Wound). It stars Jesse Eisenberg (Zombieland, The Social Network), Adrien Brody (The Pianist, The Grand Budapest Hotel), Odessa Young (Assassination Nation, Shirley), Sallieu Sesay (Hornet), Philip Ettinger (First Reformed, Brawl in Cell Block 99), Ethan Suplee (The Wolf of Wall Street, Babylon), Evan Jonigkeit (X-Men: Days of Future Past, The Night House), and Caleb Eberhardt (The Post, Judas and the Black Messiah).

Ralphie (Eisenberg) is an Uber driver and aspiring bodybuilder who is inducted into a libertarian masculinity cult and loses his grip on reality when his repressed desires are awakened.

The film is Trengove's English language debut and premiered at the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival on February 18, 2023. It is scheduled to be released by Lionsgate in the United States on November 10, 2023. Watch the official trailer below.

The series stars Kristine Froseth, Alisha Boe, Josie Totah, Aubri Ibrag, Imogen Waterhouse, Mia Threapleton, Christina Hendricks, Josh Dylan, Barney Fishwick, Guy Remmers, and Matthew Broome.

Sent to secure husbands and titles, young American women explode into the tightly corseted London season of the 1870s, kicking off an Anglo-American culture clash.

The Curse

The Curse is an upcoming American comedy television series created and written by Nathan Fielder and Benny Safdie, and starring Emma Stone (Superbad, La La Land), Fielder (Nathan for You, The Rehearsal), and Safdie (Good Time, Oppenheimer).

A genre-bending scripted comedy that explores how an alleged curse disturbs the relationship of a newly married couple (Stone and Fielder) as they try to conceive a child while co-starring on their problematic new HGTV show.

The series was filmed from June to October 2022 and its first three episodes were premiered at the New York Film Festival on October 12, 2023. It will premiere on streaming and on-demand for all Showtime and Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers on November 10, 2023, before making its on-air debut on Showtime on November 12, 2023.
