Baby Reindeer

Baby Reindeer is a British drama-thriller miniseries created by and starring Richard Gadd. The series is based on Gadd's real life experience of being stalked and sexually assaulted in his 20s. It is an adaption of Gadd's autobiographical one-man show of the same name.

The cast includes Richard Gadd, Jessica Gunning, Nava Mau, Tom Goodman-Hill, Hugh Coles, Danny Kirrane, and Shalom Brune-Franklin.

Civil War

Civil War is a 2024 epic war film written and directed by Alex Garland (Ex Machina, Annihilation). The film stars Kirsten Dunst (Spider-Man, The Power of the Dog), Wagner Moura (Narcos, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish), Stephen McKinley Henderson (Lady Bird, Dune), and Cailee Spaeny (Bad Times at the El Royale, Priscilla).

In the near future, a group of war journalists attempt to survive while reporting the truth as the United States stands on the brink of civil war.

Arcadian

Arcadian (formerly titled Sand and Stones) is a 2024 action horror film directed by Ben Brewer, from a screenplay by Michael Nilon. The film had its world premiere at SXSW on March 11, 2024, and shortly after RLJE Films acquired distribution rights to the film for North America, the UK, and Ireland.

In a near future, life on Earth has been decimated. Paul (Nicolas Cage) and his twin teenage sons, Thomas (Jaeden Martell) and Joseph (Maxwell Jenkins), have been living a half-life -- tranquility by day and torment by night. When the sun sets, ferocious creatures of the night awaken and consume all living souls in their path. One day, when Thomas doesn't return home before sundown, Paul chooses to leave the safety of their fortified farm to find him before the creatures arrive. Just as he finds his boy, a nightmarish battle ensues and Paul is gravely wounded. Now the twins must devise a desperate plan for surviving the coming night and use everything their father has taught them to keep him alive.

The cast includes Nicolas Cage, Jaeden Martell, and Maxwell Jenkins.

Sting

Sting is a 2024 horror thriller film written and directed by Kiah Roache-Turner, known for Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead (2014) and Nekrotronic (2018).

After raising an unnervingly talented spider in secret, 12-year-old Charlotte must face the facts about her pet—and fight for her family’s survival—when the once-charming creature rapidly transforms into a giant, flesh-eating monster.

The cast includes Ryan Corr, Alyla Browne, Penelope Mitchell, Robyn Nevin, Noni Hazelhurst, Silvia Colloca, Danny Kim, and Jermaine Fowler.

The Long Game

The Long Game is a 2023 historical sports drama film directed by Julio Quintana, from a screenplay by Quintana, Paco Farias, and Jennifer C. Stetson. It is an adaptation of Humberto G. Garcia's 2010 novel Mustang Miracle.

The true story of the San Felipe Mustangs, a group of Mexican-American youths located in Del Rio, Texas. In the 1950s, the group set out to play golf at a white country club in town. Despite prejudice, the Mustangs overcame these obstacles to become the 1957 Texas state champions.

The cast includes Jay Hernandez, Julian Works, Jaina Lee Ortiz, Brett Cullen, Oscar Nuñez, Paulina Chávez, Gregory Diaz IV, José Julián, Cheech Marin, and Dennis Quaid.

The Greatest Hits

The Greatest Hits is a 2024 romantic musical film written, produced and directed by Ned Benson. The film is produced by Michael London and Shannon Gaulding, along with Benson, Stephanie Davis and Cassandra Kulukundis. It had its world premiere at South by Southwest on March 14, 2024.

Harriet (Lucy Boynton) finds art imitating life when she discovers certain songs can transport her back in time – literally. While she relives the past through romantic memories of her former boyfriend, her time travelling collides with a burgeoning new love interest in the present. As she takes her journey through time, she must consider whether or not she should change the past.

The cast includes Lucy Boynton, Justin H. Min, David Corenswet, and Austin Crute.

The Greatest Hits is set for a limited theatrical release on April 5, 2024 and streaming release on Hulu on April 12, 2024, courtesy of Searchlight Pictures. Watch the official trailer below.

The Absence of Eden is a 2023 drama thriller film directed by Marco Perego, from a screenplay by Perego and Rick Rapoza. The film had its world premiere at the Taormina Film Festival on June 23, 2023.

An ICE Agent struggling with the moral dilemmas of border security and an undocumented woman fighting to escape a ruthless cartel cross paths and work together to save the life of an innocent girl.

The cast includes Zoe Saldaña, Garrett Hedlund, Adria Arjona, and Tom Waits.

The Sympathizer

The Sympathizer is a 2024 historical black comedy-drama television series based on the 2015 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name by Viet Thanh Nguyen. The series was developed by co-showrunners Park Chan-wook (Oldboy, The Handmaiden) and Don McKellar, with Park directing the series as well. The series is produced to air on HBO by A24 and Rhombus Media.

The series is based on the story of the Captain, a North Vietnam plant in the South Vietnam army. He is forced to flee to the United States with his general near the end of the Vietnam War. While living within a community of South Vietnamese refugees, he continues to secretly spy on the community and report back to the Viet Cong, struggling between his original loyalties and his new life.

Tanya finds her summer plans canceled when her mom jets off for a last-minute retreat and the elderly babysitting who arrives at her door unexpectedly passes away.

The cast includes Simone Joy Jones, Ms. Pat, Jermaine Fowler, June Squibb, Nicole Richie, Tyriq Withers, Iantha Richardson, Miles Fowler, Gus Kenworthy, Donielle T. Hansley Jr., and Patricia Williams.

Franklin

Franklin is a 2024 biographical drama miniseries about the United States Founding Father Benjamin Franklin, based on Pulitzer Prize winner Stacy Schiff’s book, “A Great Improvisation: Franklin, France, and the Birth of America,” “Franklin” explores the thrilling story of the greatest gamble of Benjamin Franklin’s career. In December 1776, Franklin is world famous for his electrical experiments, but his passion and power are put to the test when — as the fate of American independence hangs in the balance — he embarks on a secret mission to France.

The full cast includes Michael Douglas as Benjamin Franklin, Noah Jupe (A Quiet Place) as Temple Franklin, Thibault de Montalembert (Call My Agent!) as Comte de Vergennes, Daniel Mays (Line of Duty) as Edward Bancroft, Ludivine Sagnier (Lupin) as Madame Brillon, Eddie Marsan (Ray Donovan) as John Adams, Assaad Bouab (Call My Agent!) as Beaumarchais, Jeanne Balibar (Irma Vep) as Madame Helvetius, and Theodore Pellerin (There’s Someone Inside Your House) as Marquis de Lafayette.

Model House

Model House is a 2024 slasher thriller film written and directed by Derek Pike, who has directed several music videos for artists like Wiz Khalifa, Aloe Blacc, and XXXTentacion. Producers on the film include Randy Wayne and Talia Bella of Rebellium Films, as well as Collin Avery.

Held at gunpoint, five swimsuit models shooting a lucrative swimwear campaign at a waterfall one hundred miles north of Los Angeles are forced to post a fake donation link to their social media pages until $1 million is stolen from their followers. Soon realizing that their lives are at risk, the models take matters into their own hands and fight back.

The cast includes Scout Taylor-Compton, Chris Zylka, Cory Anne Roberts, Kyra Santoro, Hailee Lautenbach, Priscilla Huggins Ortiz, Natalie Nootenboom, and Phillip Andrew Botello..

LaRoy, Texas

LaRoy, Texas is a 2023 comedy crime thriller written and directed by Shane Atkinson in his feature-film directorial debut. The film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 8th, 2023.

A depressed man plans to kill himself, but his plans suddenly change when a stranger mistakes him for a low-rent hit man. Desperate to earn a little respect, he decides to play the part of a hired gun. However, when the supposedly simple plan begins to unravel, he recruits a private investigator to help him escape from the actual killer and make it out alive.

The cast includes John Magaro (Past Lives, First Cow), Steve Zahn, Dylan Baker, Galadriel Stineman, Matthew Del Negro, Bob Clendenin, Brad Leland, Megan Stevenson, and Emily Pendergast.

Monkey Man

Monkey Man is a 2024 revenge thriller film directed by Oscar-winner Dev Patel in his directorial debut, from an original story by Patel and a screenplay he co-wrote with Paul Angunawela and John Collee (Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World). The film was originally set to debut on Netflix, but has since been given a theatrical release as part of Jordan Peele’s production company Monkeypaw’s film deal with Universal.

Inspired by the legend of Hanuman, an icon embodying strength and courage, Monkey Man stars Dev Patel as Kid, an anonymous young man who ekes out a meager living in an underground fight club where, night after night, wearing a gorilla mask, he is beaten bloody by more popular fighters for cash.

After years of suppressed rage, Kid discovers a way to infiltrate the enclave of the city’s sinister elite. As his childhood trauma boils over, his mysteriously scarred hands unleash an explosive campaign of retribution to settle the score with the men who took everything from him.

The First Omen

The First Omen is a 2024 supernatural horror film directed by Arkasha Stevenson, and written by Stevenson, Tim Smith, and Keith Thomas, from a story by Ben Jacoby. The film serves as a prequel to The Omen (1976).

A young American woman is sent to Rome to begin a life of service to the church, but encounters a darkness that causes her to question her faith and uncovers a terrifying conspiracy that hopes to bring about the birth of evil incarnate.

The cast includes Nell Tiger Free, Tawfeek Barhom, Sônia Braga, Ralph Ineson, and Bill Nighy.

The Beast

The Beast (French: La Bête) is a 2023 science fiction romantic drama film directed and written by Bertrand Bonello from a story he co-wrote with Guillaume Bréaud and Benjamin Charbit, and loosely based on Henry James's 1903 novella The Beast in the Jungle. The film had its world premiere on September 3rd, 2023, at the 80th Venice International Film Festival as part of the official competition.

In the near future where emotions have become a threat, Gabrielle finally decides to purify her DNA in a machine that will plunge her into her past lives and rid her of all strong feelings. She then meets Louis and feels a powerful connection, as if she had always known him. The story unfolds over three distinct periods: 1910, 2014 and 2044.

The cast includes Léa Seydoux, George MacKay, Guslagie Malanda, and Dasha Nekrasova.

DogMan

DogMan is a 2023 English-language French action thriller film written and directed by Luc Besson, the talented mind behind Léon: The Professional (1994) and The Fifth Element (1997). The film was selected to compete for the Golden Lion at the 80th Venice International Film Festival, where it premiered on August 31st, 2023.

The story of a man who, following a traumatic childhood, finds salvation and justice through his connection with dogs.

The cast includes Caleb Landry Jones, Jojo T. Gibbs, Christopher Denham, John Charles Aguilar, and Grace Palma.

Epic Tails is a 2022 animated family adventure comedy film directed by David Alaux, from a screenplay he co-wrote with Eric Tosti and Jean-François Tosti.

Ripley

Ripley is a 2024 psychological thriller television series based on Patricia Highsmith's 1955 crime novel The Talented Mr. Ripley. Starring Andrew Scott as Tom Ripley, Johnny Flynn as Dickie Greenleaf and Dakota Fanning as Marge Sherwood. The eight-episode limited series was created, written and directed by Steven Zaillian. Ripley was originally set to air on Showtime, but in February 2023, the series moved to Netflix. 

In 1960s New York, Tom Ripley is hired by a wealthy man to convince his wayward son to return home from Italy. But Tom's introduction to Dickie Greenleaf's leisurely life abroad "is the first step into a complex life of deceit, fraud and murder".

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is a 2024 monster film directed by Adam Wingard. Produced by Legendary Pictures and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, it is a sequel to Godzilla vs. Kong (2021), and the seventh installment and fifth film in the MonsterVerse. It is also the 38th film of the Godzilla franchise, the 13th film in the King Kong franchise, and the fifth Godzilla film to be completely produced by an American film studio. The film stars Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Dan Stevens, Kaylee Hottle, Alex Ferns, and Fala Chen. Hall, Henry, and Hottle reprise their roles from the previous film.

This latest entry follows up the explosive showdown of Godzilla vs. Kong with an all-new cinematic adventure, pitting the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence – and our own. The epic new film will delve further into the histories of these Titans, their origins, and the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.

Due to the box office and streaming success of Godzilla vs. Kong during the COVID-19 pandemic, Legendary announced a sequel in March 2022 and that filming would commence later in the year. In May 2022, it was announced that Wingard would return to direct and Stevens cast as the lead. Filming began in July 2022 in Gold Coast, Queensland, and finished in November 2022.

In the Land of Saints and Sinners

In the Land of Saints and Sinners is a 2023 Irish action thriller film directed by Robert Lorenz (Trouble with the Curve) and written by Mark Michael McNally and Terry Loane. The film stars Liam Neeson (Schindler’s List, Batman Begins) in the lead role, alongside other Irish actors including Kerry Condon (Better Call Saul, The Banshees of Inisherin), Jack Gleeson (Game of Thrones), and Ciarán Hinds (There Will Be Blood, Belfast).

Other cast members include Desmond Eastwood, Conor MacNeill, Seamus O'Hara, Bernadette Carty, Manus Brennan, Niamh Cusack, Michelle Gleeson, Tim Landers, Mark O'Regan, Colm Meaney, Anne Brogan, Conor Hamill, Sarah Greene, Valentine Olukoga, Laura Hughes, Joe Gallagher, Mark Connolly, and James Sadat. This is Neeson's second collaboration with Lorenz after the 2021 film The Marksman (see our full review here). The film premiered at the 80th Venice International Film Festival on September 6, 2023.

Ireland, 1970s. Eager to leave his dark past behind, Finbar Murphy (Liam Neeson) leads a quiet life in the remote coastal town of Glencolmcille, far from the political violence that grips the rest of the country. But when a menacing crew of terrorists arrive, led by a ruthless woman named Doirean (Kerry Condon), Finbar is drawn into an increasingly vicious game of cat and mouse, forcing him to choose between exposing his secret identity or defending his friends and neighbors.
