In a Violent Nature

In a Violent Nature is a 2024 horror slasher film written and directed by Chris Nash. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 24th, 2024 as part of the festivals “Midnight” program. The film is said to emphasize static long take shots and does not have a musical score.

When a locket is removed from a collapsed fire tower in the woods that entombs the rotting corpse of Johnny, a vengeful spirit spurred on by a horrific 60-year-old crime, his body is resurrected and becomes hellbent on retrieving it. The undead golem hones in on the group of vacationing teens responsible for the theft and proceeds to methodically slaughter them one by one in his mission to get it back -- along with anyone in his way.

The cast includes Ry Barrett, Charlotte Creaghan, Liam Leone, Andrea Pavlovic, Cameron Love, and Reece Presley.

Ezra

Ezra is a 2023 comedy drama film directed by Tony Goldwyn and written by Tony Spiridakis. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 9th, 2023.

Max Brandel, a stand-up comedian living with his father, Stan, struggles to co-parent his autistic son Ezra with his ex-wife, Jenna. When faced with difficult decisions about their son’s future, Max and Ezra set out on a cross-country road trip.

The cast includes Bobby Cannavale, Rose Byrne, Vera Farmiga, Whoopi Goldberg, Rainn Wilson, Goldwyn, William Fitzgerald, and Robert De Niro.

Summer Camp

Summer Camp is a 2024 coming-of-age comedy film written and directed by Castille Landon. Filming took place primarily at Camp Pinnacle and Blue Ridge Community College in Hendersonville, North Carolina.

Nora, Ginny, and Mary have been best friends since being inseparable at summer camp. As the years have passed, they’ve seen each other less and less, so when the chance to reunite for a summer camp reunion arises, they all take it, some begrudgingly and others excitedly. Each of their lives might not be where they’d imagined, but one thing is for sure — Nora, Ginny, and Mary need each other, and summer camp reminds them why.

The cast includes Diane Keaton, Kathy Bates, Alfre Woodard, Beverly D'Angelo, Nicole Richie, Josh Peck, Betsy Sodaro, Dennis Haysbert, and Eugene Levy.

Eric

Eric is a 2024 six-part British psychological thriller television miniseries created for the streaming service Netflix. The script was written by Abi Morgan with Lucy Forbes directing and Holly Pullinger producing the series.

Vincent is a puppeteer in 1980s New York whose nine-year-old son, Edgar, has gone missing. Vincent’s increasingly volatile behavior alienates him from his friends and family. After issues with substance abuse, Vincent becomes convinced that he can reunite with Edgar with the help of his seven-foot-tall puppet, Eric.

The cast includes Benedict Cumberbatch, Ivan Morris Howe, Gaby Hoffmann, McKinley Belcher III, Roberta Colindrez, Jeff Hephner, Wade Allain-Marcus, Dan Fogler, Clarke Peters, and Phoebe Nicholls.

MoviePass, MovieCrash

MoviePass, MovieCrash is a 2024 documentary film directed by Muta’Ali. It explores the rise and fall of movie subscription service, MoviePass. It had its world premiere at South by Southwest on March 9, 2024.

"MoviePass, MovieCrash" chronicles the origin story, meteoric rise and stranger-than-fiction implosion of the theatrical movie subscription app, MoviePass, as told through the eyes of the visionary co-founders. The film details the unique challenges they faced in building the pop culture phenomenon, only to eventually find themselves cast aside, watching from the sidelines, as new executives seized control and havoc ensued.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is a 2024 post-apocalyptic action adventure film co-produced and directed by George Miller, who co-wrote it with Nico Lathouris. It serves as both a spin-off and a prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road (2015), as well as the fifth film in the Mad Max franchise. Several crew members from Fury Road returned for the film, including screenwriter Lathouris, film editor Margaret Sixel, costume designer Jenny Beavan, and composer Tom Holkenborg.

As the world falls, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and into the hands of a Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. While two Tyrants war for dominance over the Citadel, Furiosa survives many trials as she plots a way back home through the Wasteland.

The cast includes Anya Taylor-Joy as the title character Imperator Furiosa, with Chris Hemsworth, Alyla Browne, and Tom Burke in supporting roles.

Sight

Sight is a 2024 biographical drama film written and directed by Andrew Hyatt. The film is based on Ming Wang's autobiography From Darkness to Sight. Briarcliff Entertainment sold distribution rights for the film to Angel Studios in February 2024.

The true story of Dr. Ming Wang, a poor Chinese immigrant who defies all odds to become a world-renowned eye surgeon in the United States. Set in 1970s rural China, a young Ming faces persecution and despair at every turn; but with the support of his dedicated family and his own unwavering determination, he finds his way to America, attends Harvard and MIT, and helps develop an innovative technology that restores sight in millions. Taking on the seemingly impossible challenge of helping a blind orphan, the resilient Dr. Wang must reconcile with his own traumatic past and face the harsh reality that the strength of his own will can only go so far.

The cast includes Terry Chen, Greg Kinnear, Danni Wang, Raymond Ma, Bennet Wang, Jayden Zhang. Wai Ching Ho, and Fionnula Flanagan.

The Garfield Movie

The Garfield Movie is a 2024 animated comedy film based on the Jim Davis comic strip of the same name, produced by Columbia Pictures and Alcon Entertainment (in the latter's first animated film), animated by DNEG Animation, and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing. Directed by Mark Dindal (The Emperor’s New Groove, Chicken Little) from a screenplay written by David Reynolds.

The film stars Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy, Jurassic World) as the voice of Garfield, alongside the voices of Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction, Avengers: Endgame), Nicholas Hoult (The Menu), Cecily Strong (Saturday Night Live), Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso), Brett Goldstein (Ted Lasso), Bowen Yang (Saturday Night Live), and Ving Rhames (Mission: Impossible films).

Development on a new animated Garfield film began in May 2016, with producers and writers already attached to the project. Dindal was announced as the film's director in November 2018, with production beginning in the following month. Despite Viacom acquiring the rights to Garfield in August 2019, the project was still in production, according to Dindal in December 2020. In November 2021, Sony purchased the distribution rights for the film, outside of China, and Pratt was cast as Garfield, while the animation would be provided by DNEG. The rest of the cast joined in 2022, followed by its official title in September 2023.

The Garfield Movie will be theatrically released in the United States on May 24, 2024. Watch the official trailer below.

Atlas

Atlas is a 2024 science fiction thriller film directed by Brad Peyton, and written by Leo Sardarian and Aron Eli Coleite. The film is a co-production of Netflix, Safehouse Pictures, ASAP Entertainment, Nuyorican Productions, and Berlanti-Schechter Films. Jennifer Lopez serves as a producer and also stars in the film.

Atlas Shepherd (Jennifer Lopez), a brilliant but misanthropic data analyst with a deep distrust of artificial intelligence, joins a mission to capture a renegade robot with whom she shares a mysterious past. When plans go awry, her only hope of saving the future of humanity from AI is to trust it.

The cast includes Jennifer Lopez, Simu Liu, Sterling K. Brown, Mark Strong, and Lana Parrilla.

I Saw the TV Glow

I Saw the TV Glow is a 2024 coming-of-age horror film written and directed by Jane Schoenbrun. Emma Stone and Dave McCary serve as producers under their Fruit Tree banner, with A24 handling production, financing, and distribution. The film premiered in the Midnight section at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival on January 18, 2024.

Two teenagers bond over their love of a television series; after it is mysteriously canceled, their reality begins to blur.

The cast includes Justice Smith (Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves), Brigette Lundy-Paine (Atypical), Ian Foreman, Helena Howard, Fred Durst, and Danielle Deadwyler (The Harder They Fall, Till).

Humane

Humane is a 2024 dystopian thriller film directed by Caitlin Cronenberg in her directorial debut, and written by Michael Sparaga. The Ontario, Canada native is the daughter of director David Cronenberg, and sister of Brandon Cronenberg. Filmed in Hamilton, Ontario, the film is produced by Sparaga through his company Victory Man Productions, and executive produced by Martin Katz and Karen Wookey of Prospero Pictures

In the wake of an environmental collapse that is forcing humanity to shed 20% of its population, a family dinner erupts into chaos when a father's plan to enlist in the government's new euthanasia program goes horribly awry.

The cast includes Jay Baruchel, Emily Hampshire, and Peter Gallagher.

Sweet Dreams

Sweet Dreams is a 2024 coming-of-age comedy film written and directed by Like Sarki, one of the producers of Peanut Butter Falcon.

Forced into rehab at Sweet Dreams recovery center, Morris (Johnny Knoxville) struggles to confront the wreckage of his life. But when their house goes up for auction, he reluctantly agrees to coach their misfit softball team of recovering addicts to win a cash prize and prove that everyone, despite their past, can hit a home run.

The cast includes Johnny Knoxville, Mo Amer, GaTa, Bobby Lee, Theo Von, Brian Van Holt, Jonnie Park, Shakewell, Adam Faison, Erik Anthony Gonzalez, Beth Grant, Jay Mohr, and Kate Upton.

A girl who goes through a difficult experience begins to see everyone's imaginary friends who have been left behind as their real-life friends have grown up.

The cast includes Ryan Reynolds, Krasinski, Cailey Fleming, and Louis Gossett Jr., along with the voices of Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Steve Carell.

The Strangers: Chapter 1

The Strangers: Chapter 1 is a 2024 slasher film directed by Renny Harlin, with a screenplay by Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freeland, from a story by Bryan Bertino. Serving as the third film in The Strangers film series created by Bertino, it is the first installment of a new trilogy of standalone sequel films, where Chapter 1 will follow a similar premise to the the first film and takes place in the same continuity as the first two installments.

After their car breaks down in an eerie small town, a young couple (Madelaine Petsch and Froy Gutierrez) are forced to spend the night in a remote cabin. Panic ensues as they are terrorized by three masked strangers who strike with no mercy and seemingly no motive.

The cast includes Madelaine Petsch, Froy Gutierrez, Gabriel Basso, Rachel Shenton, Richard Brake, Ella Bruccoleri, Ema Horvath, George Young, and Rebecka Johnston.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is a 2024 science fiction action film directed by Wes Ball (Maze Runner film trilogy) from a screenplay by Josh Friedman, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Patrick Aison, and produced by Joe Hartwick Jr., Jaffa, Silver, and Jason Reed. It is intended to be the sequel to War for the Planet of the Apes (2017) and the fourth installment in the Planet of the Apes reboot franchise. The film stars Owen Teague (It, It Chapter Two) in the lead role alongside Freya Allan (The Witcher), Peter Macon (The Orville), Eka Darville (The Defenders, Her Smell), and Kevin Durand (The Butterfly Effect, X-Men Origins: Wolverine).

Development on a new Planet of the Apes film began in April 2019, following Disney's acquisition of Fox, with Ball attached as writer and director that December. Much of the script was written during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, with casting commencing in June 2022, following the script's completion. Teague was cast in the lead role that August, with the film's title and additional casting revealed in the following months. Principal photography began in October 2022 in Sydney and wrapped in February 2023.

The Last Stop in Yuma County is a 2023 crime thriller film written and directed by Francis Galluppi in his feature directorial debut. The film premiered at the Fantastic Fest on September 23, 2023.

While stranded at a rural Arizona rest stop, a traveling salesman is thrust into a dire hostage situation by the arrival of two bank robbers with no qualms about using cruelty—or cold, hard steel—to protect their bloodstained fortune.

North of Normal is a 2024 coming-of-age drama film directed by Carly Stone. The film is based on the 2014 memoir of the same name by Cea Sunrise Person. The film premiered in the Contemporary World Cinema program at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival on September 11, 2022.

Raised in the wilderness, Cea Sunrise Person navigates a complicated relationship with her pot-smoking mother while seeking some semblance of normalcy.

The Fall Guy

The Fall Guy is a 2024 action comedy-thriller film directed by David Leitch (Deadpool 2, Bullet Train) and written by Drew Pearce (Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation). It is an adaptation of the 1980s TV series of the same name created by Glen A. Larson, and is scheduled to have a world premiere at SXSW on March 12, 2024. The film stars Ryan Gosling (La La Land, Blade Runner 2049, Barbie) and Emily Blunt (A Quiet Place, Oppenheimer).

After leaving the business one year earlier, battle-scarred stuntman Colt Seavers (Ryan Gosling) springs back into action when the star of a big studio movie suddenly disappears. As the mystery surrounding the missing actor deepens, Colt soon finds himself ensnared in a sinister plot that pushes him to the edge of a fall more dangerous than any stunt.

Tarot is a 2024 supernatural horror film written and directed by Spenser Cohen and Anna Halberg (in their feature film directorial debut) and also co-written by Nicholas Adams, based on a 1992 novel of the same name by Nicholas Adams.

When a group of friends recklessly violates the sacred rule of Tarot readings they unknowingly unleash an unspeakable evil trapped within the cursed cards. One by one, they come face to face with fate and end up in a race against death.

The cast includes Harriet Slater, Adain Bradley, Avantika, and Jacob Batalon.

The Idea of You

The Idea of You is a 2024 romantic comedy film directed by Michael Showalter, the man who brought us The Big Sick (2017), The Lovebirds (2020), and more recently Spoiler Alert (2022). It is based on the acclaimed romance novel of the same name by Robinne Lee. The film is scheduled to premiere at South by Southwest on March 16, 2024, as the closing night film.

Solène (Anne Hathaway) is a 40-year-old divorced mother who, at her ex-husband’s request, takes their 16-year-old daughter to Coachella and things take a surprising turn when she strikes up a budding romance with 24-year-old Hayes Campbell (Nicholas Galitzine), the lead singer of the famous pop boyband August Moon.

The cast includes Anne Hathaway, Nicholas Galitzine (Bottoms), Ella Rubin, Annie Mumolo, Reid Scott, Perry Mattfield, Jordan Aaron Hall, and Mathilda Gianopoulos.
