“Cambodian author and human rights activist Loung Ung recounts the horrors she suffered under the rule of the deadly Khmer Rouge.”

From actress turned director Angeline Jolie, who also co-wrote the screenplay,  First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers is a biography drama recounting the experiences of Cambodian author and human rights activist Loung Ung during the rule of the deadly Khmer Rouge. Jolie found success with another film based on true events, 2014's Unbroken, so it seems she may have a knack for this form of storytelling. The cast includes Sareum Srey Moch, Phoeung Kompheak, Sveng Socheata, and Tharoth Sam. The film will be available to stream on Netflix September 15th, 2017. Check out the official trailer below!
