The first season of GLOW took Netflix by storm and much to the delight of viewers the girls are back in their ridiculously outdated yet oddly appealing wrestling attire. I absolutely loved the first season and enjoyed the balance between comedy and drama, plus I am all for supporting Tokyo born actress Britney Young who was raised in the same picturesque Alaska town my girlfriend grew up in, Eagle River. It's a funny story actually, I was watching the first season of the show and my girlfriend just happened to be on the couch working on her laptop and she recognized Britney's voice and looked up and said "I went to high school with her!". Needless to say I thought she was mistaken, and lo and behold, she was correct. Crazy right?! She is soooo damn good in this show too. The cast includes Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin, Britney Young, Marc Maron, Britt Baron, Sydelle Noel, and Kia Stevens. Check out the official trailer below!!
Ted Takes Fun Facts, GLOW:
- Kia Stevens, who plays Tamee/Welfare Queen in the series, is the only female cast member who is actually a professional wrestler. Stevens has been a champion all over the world wrestling under the name Awesome Kong (sometimes Amazing Kong). She also briefly wrestled in WWE as Kharma.
- The wrestler who trained the actresses for this series, Chavo Guerrero Jr., is the nephew of Armando Guerrero a.k.a. Mando, the trainer for the wrestlers on the original 1980s series.
