The series is based on the comic series of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The "Coming 2019" poster for the series is an exact recreation of the cover of the first issue, drawn by Robertson, later reused for The Boys Vol. 1 collection, "The Name of the Game".
Creator Garth Ennis has worked with Seth Rogen bringing both The Boys and Preacher to the small screen.
