Oppenheimer

July 16, 2023

Oppenheimer is a 2023 biographical film written and directed by Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight, Inception, Dunkirk), based on American Prometheus, a biography of J. Robert Oppenheimer written by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin. The film is a co-production between Syncopy Inc. and Atlas Entertainment, with Nolan producing the film alongside Emma Thomas and Charles Roven.

Cillian Murphy (Batman Begins, Peaky Blinders) stars as Oppenheimer and the film follows the theoretical physicist and director of the Los Alamos Laboratory during the Manhattan Project and his contributions that led to the creation of the atomic bomb, and ultimately the World War II undertaking that developed the first nuclear weapons. Emily Blunt (A Quiet Place, Mary Poppins Returns), Matt Damon (Good Will Hunting, The Bourne Identity), Robert Downey Jr. (Zodiac, Iron Man), and Florence Pugh (Midsommar, Black Widow) also lead the ensemble cast.

Oppenheimer is scheduled to be released in the United States on July 21, 2023, by Universal Pictures. It is Nolan's first film not to be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures since Memento (2000), due to disagreements arising from the studio's simultaneous theatrical and HBO Max release strategy for their 2021 slate.

They Cloned Tyrone

July 16, 2023

They Cloned Tyrone is a 2023 American science fiction comedy mystery film directed by Juel Taylor in his feature film directorial debut, from a screenplay by Taylor and Tony Rettenmaier. The film stars John Boyega (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, The Woman King), Teyonah Parris (WandaVision, Candyman), and Jamie Foxx (Django Unchained, Baby Driver), who also serves as producer, as an unlikely trio uncovering a government cloning conspiracy. David Alan Grier (In Living Color) and Kiefer Sutherland (24, The Lost Boys) also appear in supporting roles.

Development on the film began in February 2019 when the screenplay was optioned from The Black List by MACRO Media. It was conceived as a genre-busting homage to the Blaxploitation films of the 1970s, featuring elements of satire, horror, and absurdist humor. Brian Tyree Henry was initially attached to star as a lead but was eventually replaced by Boyega in October 2019. Parris and Foxx joined the cast in September 2020. Filming took place in Atlanta, Georgia from November 2020 to April 2021.

They Cloned Tyrone premiered at the American Black Film Festival on June 14, 2023. It is scheduled to be released on July 21, 2023, by Netflix. Watch the official trailer below.
