Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is a 2021 survival horror film written and directed by Johannes Roberts, the man who brought us 47 Meters Down and The Other Side of the Door. Adapted from the stories of the first and second games by Capcom, it serves as a reboot of the Resident Evil film series and will be the seventh film overall, which was loosely based on the video game series of the same name.

Once the booming home of pharmaceutical giant Umbrella Corporation, Raccoon City is now a dying Midwestern town. The company's exodus left the city a wasteland... with great evil brewing below the surface. When that evil is unleashed, the townspeople are forever... changed... and a small group of survivors must work together to uncover the truth behind Umbrella and make it through the night.

The film stars Kaya Scodelario, Hannah John-Kamen, Robbie Amell, Tom Hopper, Avan Jogia, Donal Logue, and Neal McDonough.

House of Gucci

House of Gucci is a 2021 biographical crime drama directed by Ridley Scott, based on the 2001 book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed by Sara Gay Forden. It tells the shocking true story of the family empire behind the Italian fashion house of Gucci. Spanning three decades of love, betrayal, decadence, revenge, and ultimately murder, we see what a name means, what it’s worth, and how far a family will go for control.

The cast includes Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, Al Pacino, Jared Leto, Salma Hayek, Camille Cottin, Jack Huston, Jeremy Irons, Mãdãlina Ghenea, Reeve Carney, and Youssef Kerkour.

The Humans

The Humans is a 2021 drama written and directed by Stephen Karam in his directorial debut, and is based on his one-act Tony Award-winning play of the same name. It had its world premiere at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival on September 12th, 2021.

Erik Blake has gathered three generations of his Pennsylvania family to celebrate Thanksgiving at his daughter’s apartment in lower Manhattan. As darkness falls outside and eerie things start to go bump in the night, the group’s deepest fears are laid bare.

The cast includes Richard Jenkins, Jayne Houdyshell, Amy Schumer, Beanie Feldstein, Steven Yeun, and June Squibb

Hawkeye

Hawkeye is a 2021 television miniseries created by Jonathan Igla for the streaming service Disney+, based on Marvel Comics featuring the characters Clint Barton / Hawkeye and Kate Bishop / Hawkeye. It is planned to be the fifth television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) produced by Marvel Studios, sharing continuity with the films of the franchise and taking place after the events of the film Avengers: Endgame (2019). Igla serves as head writer with Rhys Thomas leading the directing team.

Series based on the Marvel Comics superhero Hawkeye, centering on the adventures of Young Avenger, Kate M. Bishop, who took on the role after the original Avenger, Clint Barton.

Jeremy Renner reprises his role as Clint Barton from the film series, with Hailee Steinfeld joining him as Kate Bishop. Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Zahn McClarnon, Brian d'Arcy James, and Alaqua Cox also star.

Hawkeye is scheduled to premiere on November 24th on Disney+, and will consist of six episodes, concluding on December 29th. It is part of Phase Four of the MCU. Watch the official trailer below.

Encanto

Encanto is a 2021 computer-animated musical fantasy film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. The 60th film produced by the studio, it is directed by Byron Howard and Jared Bush, co-directed by Charise Castro Smith, and produced by Clark Spencer and Yvett Merino, with original songs written by Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Set in a fantasy version of Colombia, it tells the story of Mirabel Madrigal, a young Colombian woman dealing with the frustration of being the only member of her family without magical powers, who must go on a journey to save her family and their house when their magic is in danger of disappearing.

The film stars the voices of Stephanie Beatriz, John Leguizamo, María Cecilia Botero, Diane Guerrero, Jessica Darrow, Angie Cepeda, and Wilmer Valderrama.

Encanto premiered at the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles on November 3rd, 2021, and is scheduled to be released theatrically November 24th. Watch the official trailer below.

8-Bit Christmas

8-Bit Christmas is a 2021 Christmas comedy film directed by Michael Dowse, known for Goon (2011), What If (2013), and Stuber (2019), from a screenplay by Kevin Jakubowski, based upon his novel of the same name.

A humorous and heartfelt look back at the adventures of childhood. Set in suburban Chicago in the late 1980s, the story centers on ten-year-old Jake Doyle’s herculean quest to get the latest and greatest video game system for Christmas.

The cast includes Neil Patrick Harris, Winslow Fegley, June Diane Raphael, David Cross, and Steve Zahn.

Bruised

Bruised is a 2021 sports drama directed by Halle Berry (in her directorial debut), from a screenplay by Michelle Rosenfarb. A disgraced MMA fighter finds redemption in the cage and the courage to face her demons when the son she had given up as an infant unexpectedly reenters her life.

The film stars Halle Berry, Shamier Anderson, Adan Canto, Sheila Atim, and Stephen McKinley Henderson. Bruised had its world premiere at the 2020 Toronto International Film Festival, on September 12th, 2020.

Hillbilly Elegy

A Netflix Original Film from Academy Award-winning director Ron Howard, Hillbilly Elegy tells the story of J.D. Vance, a former Marine from southern Ohio and current Yale Law student who is on the verge of landing his dream job when a family crisis forces him to return to the home he’s tried to forget.

The film stars Amy Adams, Glenn Close, Gabriel Basso, and Haley Bennett.

Based on the powerful personal memoir from author J.D. Vance, which offers a window into one family’s personal journey of survival and triumph. Vance’s family story follows three colorful generations through their unique struggles, exploring the highs and lows that define his family’s experience.
