AMERICAN SPORTS STORY: AARON HERNANDEZ is a 2024 biographical crime drama series based on the podcast Gladiator: Aaron Hernandez and Football Inc. from The Boston Globe and Wondery. The 10-episode limited series charts the rise and fall of NFL superstar Aaron Hernandez and explores the disparate strands of his identity, his family, his career, his suicide and their legacy in sports and American culture.

Actor Josh Rivera, who previously starred in West Side Story (2021) and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes (2023), takes on the role of Aaron Hernandez.

AMERICAN SPORTS STORY: AARON HERNANDEZ is set to debut September 17th on FX, and streaming on Hulu. Watch the official trailer below.

Cry Macho

Cry Macho is an 2021 drama directed and produced by Clint Eastwood as an adaptation of the 1975 novel of the same name by N. Richard Nash. A one-time rodeo star and washed-up horse breeder takes a job to bring a man's young son home and away from his alcoholic mom. On their journey, the horseman finds redemption through teaching the boy what it means to be a good man.

The cast includes Clint Eastwood, Eduardo Minett, Natalia Traven, Dwight Yoakam, Fernanda Urrejola, and Horacio Garcia Rojas.

Cry Macho is scheduled to be theatrically released in the United States on September 17th, by Warner Bros. Pictures with a simultaneous release on the HBO Max streaming service for 31 days. Watch the official trailer below.

Copshop

Copshop is a 2021 action thriller film directed by Joe Carnahan, and written by Kurt McLeod and Carnahan, based on a story by McLeod and Mark Williams. Carnahan was behind the camera for some great action films like The A-Team (2010), the very underrated Smokin’ Aces (2006), and the 2021 Hulu original time-loop thriller Boss Level, also starring Frank Grillo.

Screaming through the Nevada desert in a bullet-ridden Crown Vic, wily con artist Teddy Murretto hatches a desperate plan to hide out from lethal hitman Bob Viddick: He sucker-punches rookie officer Valerie Young to get himself arrested and locked up in a small-town police station. But jail can't protect Murretto for long. Viddick schemes his own way into detention, biding his time in a nearby cell until he can complete his mission.

The cast includes Gerard Butler, Frank Grillo, Alexis Louder, and Toby Huss.

Prisoners of the Ghostland

Prisoners of the Ghostland is a 2021 neo-noir western action film directed by Sion Sono, from a script by Aaron Hendry and Reza Sixo Safai. A notorious criminal, Hero, is sent to rescue the governor's adopted granddaughter, who has disappeared into a dark supernatural universe. To escape the nightmare world, Hero must break the evil curse controlling the mysterious Ghostland.

The film stars Nicolas Cage, Sofia Boutella, and Bill Moseley.

Prisoners of the Ghostland had its world premiere at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival on January 31st, 2021. It will be released in select theaters and VOD on September 17th, by RLJE Films. Watch the official trailer below.

From the producers of The Ring and The Grudge, Polaroid is a horror film from director Lars Klevberg, and is his feature-film debut. It is based on his 2015 film of the same name, which has been well received. The trailer has that "the monster is scarier in the darkness" feel to it which I like, perhaps this will be a decent horror flick. The cast includes Javier Botet, Madelaine Petsch, Kathryn Prescott, and Katie Stevens. Check out the newly released official trailer below!
