Blonde is a 2022 biographical drama film directed by Andrew Dominik (The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, Killing Them Softly) who also wrote the screenplay, and is based on the bestselling novel by Joyce Carol Oates.
Blurring the lines of fact and fiction while boldly reimagining the complicated life of icon Marilyn Monroe, the film artfully explores the tension between her public and private life.
The cast includes Ana de Armas (Blade Runner 2049, Knives Out). Adrien Brody (The Pianist), Bobby Cannavale (Ant-Man), Xavier Samuel (The Twilight Sage: Eclipse), and Julianne Nicholson (Mare of Easttown).
Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Tracey Landon, Brad Pitt, and Scott Robertson serve as producers on the film, which, after a lengthy period of development that began in 2010, began production in Los Angeles in August 2019. Production wrapped in July 2021, following the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
Blonde is set to debut on Netflix September 23rd. It is rated NC-17 for its graphic sexual content and will be the first of its kind to be released through a streaming service. Watch the official trailers below.
