Golden Globes 2021: Winners and Losers

March 29, 2017

Alright so the 2021 Golden Globes, or at least a zoom version, came and went, so did it go as you expected? I have to say, I was impressed with some of the selections that took home the gold this year but the show was fairly predictable.

___________________

  • Nomadland grabbing best motion picture in the drama category, as well as Chloé Zhao taking home best director for a motion picture, was absolutely glorious.

  • Jason Sudeikis winning best performance for an actor in a TV series for the fantastic Apple TV+ comedy series Ted Lasso was well deserved.

  • Mark Ruffalo got the award in the limited series category for HBO’s I Know This Much is True, a very good but extremely depressing series.

  • Rosamund Pike took home the gold for best actress in a musical or comedy for her incredible performance in the Netflix film I Care a Lot.

  • Borat Subsequent Moviefilm took home best motion picture in the musical or comedy category which certainly ruffled some feathers which I get, I mean the Borat films work but to say they are award-winning is a bit of a stretch. Although Sia’s Music was a contender in that category as well, so we could have done worse.

BUT… the snub for Christopher Nolan’s Tenet is an absolute travesty, and we should all write a very strongly worded email about it.
