Hellraiser is a 2022 supernatural horror film directed by David Bruckner, with a screenplay by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski, from a screen story they co-wrote with David S. Goyer. The film is meant to be a reimagining of the iconic 1986 novel The Hellbound Heart by Clive Barker, which served as the basis for Barker's 1987 film Hellraiser. It is an official reboot of the franchise and the eleventh installment overall. The film was green-lit in early 2019, mostly thanks to the resurgent success of the Halloween franchise.
A young woman must confront the sadistic, supernatural forces behind an enigmatic puzzlebox responsible for her brother's disappearance.
The cast includes Odessa A’zion (“Fam,” “Grand Army”), Jamie Clayton (“The L Word: Generation Q,” “Sense8”), Adam Faison (“Everything’s Gonna Be Okay,” “Yes Day”), Drew Starkey (“Outer Banks,” “The Devil All the Time”), Brandon Flynn (“Ratched,” “13 Reasons Why”), Aoife Hinds (“The Long Call,” “Normal People”), Jason Liles (“Stereoscope,” “Rampage”), Yinka Olorunnife (“The Transporter”), Selina Lo (“Boss Level,” “Q8 Unleashed”), Zachary Hing (“Halo”), Kit Clarke (“Leonardo”), with Goran Visnjic (“The Boys,” “Timeless”) and Hiam Abbass (“Succession,” “Blade Runner 2049”).
Hellraiser is set to have its world premiere at Beyond Fest in Santa Monica, California on October 4th, 2022. The film is scheduled to be released by Disney Platform Distribution via streaming exclusively on Hulu as a Hulu original film on October 7th. Watch the official trailer below.
