Midnight Mass is an 2021 Netflix Original horror thriller series created and directed by Mike Flanagan, the man behind the hit series The Haunting of Hill House, and a number or horror films including Oculus and Doctor Sleep (2019). The series is centered around an isolated island community that experiences supernatural events after the arrival of a mysterious priest.
Flanagan included “easter eggs” for his new series in two of his previous projects, Hush and Gerald’s Game, making it seem like this project has been in the works for quite some time. In Hush, the main character who is an author, is working on a book entitled Midnight Mass, and in Gerald’s Game towards the end of the movie, the main character reaches for a book with the same title.
The cast features Zach Gilford, Kate Siegel, Hamish Linklater, and Rahul Kohli.
Midnight Mass is set to premiere on Netflix September 24th. Watch the teaser trailer below.
