Sing Sing is a 2023 drama film directed by Greg Kwedar, who co-wrote the screenplay with Clint Bentley. Based on the real-life Rehabilitation Through the Arts program at Sing Sing maximum security prison, the film centres on a group of inmates involved in the creation of theatrical stage shows through the program. Sing Sing premiered in the Special Presentations program at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival.
Divine G, imprisoned at Sing Sing for a crime he didn't commit, finds purpose by acting in a theatre group alongside other incarcerated men in this story of resilience, humanity, and the transformative power of art.
The cast includes professional actors including Best Actor Nominees Colman Domingo and Paul Raci, but mainly focuses on real-life former inmates who were themselves alumni of the program during their incarceration.
Sing Sing is set to debut in limited theaters July 12th 2024, before a wide release on August 2nd, courtesy of A24. Watch the official trailer below.
