The Card Counter is a 2021 crime drama written and directed by Paul Schrader, the genius mind behind the likes of Taxi Driver and Raging Bull. The revenge thriller tells the story of an ex-military interrogator turned gambler haunted by the ghosts of his past decisions, as he attempts to give guidance to a young man who is out for revenge against a mutual enemy.
The film stars Oscar Isaac, Tye Sheridan, Tiffany Haddish, and Willem Dafoe.
The Card Counter is set to have its world premiere at the 78th Venice International Film Festival in September 2021. It is scheduled to be released in theaters on September 10th, courtesy of Focus Features. Watch the official trailer below.
