The Contractor (formerly known as Violence of Action) is a 2022 action thriller film from director Tarik Saleh, making his English language film debut, with J.P. Davis writing the screenplay.
Special Forces Sergeant James Harper is involuntarily discharged from the Army and cut-off from his pension. In debt, out of options and desperate to provide for his family, Harper contracts with a private underground military force. When the very first assignment goes awry, the elite soldier finds himself hunted and on the run, caught in a dangerous conspiracy and fighting to stay alive long enough to get home and uncover the true motives of those who betrayed him.
STX Entertainment originally held the rights to the film, but sold it to Paramount+ and Showtime for $20 million, similar to how they handled things with the comedy Queenpins. Like Queenpins, The Contractor will get a limited theatrical release alongside a VOD release, and will debut on Paramount+ and Showtime later in the year.
The cast includes Chris Pine, Ben Foster, Gillian Jacobs, Eddie Marsan, Florian Munteanu, and Kiefer Sutherland.
The Contractor is scheduled to be released on April 1st, by Paramount Pictures. Watch the official trailer below.
