The Starling is a 2021 comedy drama film directed by Theodore Melfi and written by Matt Harris. After Lilly suffers a loss, a combative Starling takes nest beside her quiet home. The feisty bird taunts and attacks the grief-stricken Lilly. On her journey to expel the Starling, she rediscovers her will to live and capacity for love.
The cast includes Melissa McCarthy, Chris O'Dowd, Timothy Olyphant, Daveed Diggs, Skyler Gisondo, Laura Harrier, Rosalind Chao, Loretta Devine, and Kevin Kline.
The Starling had its world premiere at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival on September 12th, 2021. It was released in a limited release on September 17th, prior to streaming on Netflix on September 24th. Watch the official trailer below.
