The True Memoirs of an International Assassin

April 13, 2016

Director Jeff Wadlow

Genre Action | Comedy

Cast Kevin James, Zulay Henao, Andy Garcia, Kelen Coleman

Rating Unrated

Release Date November 11th, 2016 (Netflix)

“After a publisher changes a writer’s debut novel about a deadly assassin from fiction to nonfiction, the author finds himself thrust into the world of his lead character, and must take on the role of his character for his own survival.”

Directed by Jeff Wadlow (Never Back Down), The True Memoirs of an International Assassin is an action packed comedy starring one of my favorite actors Kevin James. The King of Queens is easily one of the best sitcoms to grace the television screen in my opinion and when James is used correctly he is hilarious. Check out the official trailer below.

Come and Find Me

April 13, 2016

Director Zack Whedon

Genre Drama

Cast Aaron Paul, Annabelle Wallis, Garret Dillahunt, Zachary Knighton

Rating R

Release Date November 11th, 2016

“When his girlfriend goes missing, David must track down her whereabouts after he realizes she’s not who she was pretending to be.”

Written and directed by Zack Whedon, Come and Find Me is a drama starring Aaron Paul, Annabelle Wallis, Garret Dillahunt, and Zachary Knighton. So let me pro/con this for a real quick. Pros: Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul who is starting to make quite an impact in the film world holding down the lead role. The very attractive and under the radar actress Annabelle Wallis co-starring. Cons: a rookie director with mostly writing credits thus far. The trailer leads me to believe that this could very well be a drama worth watching so consider me intrigued. We will have to wait and see what kind of a release this gets but my guess is it will be limited. Check out the trailers for yourself below.

My knowledge of Doctor Strange is severely lacking, that I will admit. The film is directed by Scott Derrickson who directed Sinister and The Exorcism of Emily Rose. The fact that this is a Marvel film that stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Rachel McAdams is all I really need to know. I am looking forward to it, check out the teaser trailer below.

Trash Fire

April 12, 2016

Director Richard Bates Jr.

Genre Horror | Drama | Romance

Cast Adrian Grenier, Angela Trimbur, Fionnula Flanagan, Ezra Buzzington

Rating R

Release Date November 3rd, 2016 (Limited)

“When Owen is forced to confront the past he’s been running from his whole adult life, he and his girlfriend, Isabel, become entangled in a horrifying web of lies, deceit and murder.”

Written and directed by Richard Bates Jr., Trash Fire stars Adrian Grenier, Angela Trimbur, Fionnula Flanagan, and Ezra Buzzington. Listed as a comedy/horror/romance. Trash Fire looks like a uniquely disturbing film that may include just enough to be surprisingly decent. This will certainly be a limited release and more than likely find it's way On-Demand before long. But don't take my word for it, check out the official trailer below and see what you think.

Army of One

April 11, 2016

Director Larry Charles

Genre Comedy

Cast Nicholas Cage, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Denis O'Hare, Russell Brand

Rating R

Release Date November 3rd, 2016 (Limited & On-Demand)

“An American civilian sets out on his own to find Osama Bin Laden.”

Army of One is directed by Larry Charles (Borat), and stars Nicholas Cage, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Denis O'Hare, and Russell Brand. Honestly I don't even know where to start with this movie, but what amazes me most is the fact that this is apparently a true story. As goofy as the movie looks, it actually could offer up a few laughs. Nicholas Cage riding a donkey may even do that for some people. This will undoubtedly be a limited release/On-Demand film. Check out the official trailer below.

Ouija: Origin of Evil

April 9, 2016

Director Mike Flanagan

Genre Horror | Thriller

Cast Lulu Wilson, Elizabeth Reaser, Henry Thomas, Kate Siegel

Rating PG-13

Release Date October 21st, 2016

“In 1967 Los Angeles, a widowed mother and her two daughters add a new stunt to bolster their seance scam business and unwittingly invite authentic evil into their home. When the youngest daughter is overtaken by a merciless spirit, the family confronts unthinkable fears to save her and send her possessor back to the other side.”

It's no secret that the first Ouija film (2014) was absolutely terrible, including horrendous acting and overall execution so poor I am surprised it made theaters. I went to see The Shallows recently and I was impressed by a trailer for the sequel, Ouija 2 Origin of Evil, releasing this fall. I am unsure as to why this is being considered a sequel (studio decision I assume), but this film includes a new and quite talented writer and directer Mike Flanagan (luckily he had no involvement with the first film), who previously directed Oculus and the highly rated Netflix exclusive horror film Hush. Rarely does a trailer creep me out but the trailer for Ouija 2 did the trick, check it out below.
