Jackpot!

JACKPOT! is a 2024 action comedy directed by Paul Feig, from a screenplay by Rob Yescombe. The film was previously titled Grand Death Lotto.

In the near future, a ‘Grand Lottery’ has been newly established in California - the catch: kill the winner before sundown to legally claim their multi-billion dollar jackpot. When Katie Kim (Awkwafina) moves to Los Angeles, she mistakenly finds herself with the winning ticket. Desperate to survive the hordes of jackpot hunters, she reluctantly joins forces with amateur lottery protection agent Noel Cassidy (John Cena) who will do everything in his power to get her to sundown in exchange for a piece of her prize. However, Noel must face off with his slick rival Louis Lewis (Simu Liu), who also seeks to collect Katie’s commission at all costs.

The cast includes Awkwafina, John Cena, Simu Liu, Ayden Mayeri, Seann William Scott, Dolly de Leon, and Donald Elise Watkins.

Borderlands

Borderlands is a 2024 science fiction action comedy film directed by Eli Roth, who co-wrote the screenplay with Joe Crombie, based on the video game series of the same name developed by Gearbox Software.

Lilith (Cate Blanchett), an infamous bounty hunter with a mysterious past, reluctantly returns to her home, Pandora, the most chaotic planet in the galaxy. Her mission is to find the missing daughter of Atlas (Edgar Ramírez), the universe’s most powerful S.O.B. Lilith forms an unexpected alliance with a ragtag team of misfits – Roland (Kevin Hart), a seasoned mercenary on a mission; Tiny Tina (Ariana Greenblatt), a feral pre-teen demolitionist; Krieg (Florian Munteanu), Tina’s musclebound protector; Tannis (Jamie Lee Curtis), the oddball scientist who’s seen it all; and Claptrap (Jack Black), a wiseass robot. Together, these unlikely heroes must battle an alien species and dangerous bandits to uncover one of Pandora’s most explosive secrets. The fate of the universe could be in their hands – but they’ll be fighting for something more: each other.

It Ends with Us

It Ends with Us is a 2024 romantic drama directed by Justin Baldoni and produced by Alex Saks, Jamey Heath, and Christy Hall, from a screenplay by Christy Hall, based on the book by Colleen Hoover, her first book to be adapted for the big screen.

Lily Bloom (Blake Lively) overcomes a traumatic childhood to embark on a new life in Boston and chase a lifelong dream of opening her own business. A chance meeting with charming neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid (Justin Baldoni) sparks an intense connection, but as the two fall deeply in love, Lily begins to see sides of Ryle that remind her of her parents’ relationship. When Lily’s first love, Atlas Corrigan (Brandon Sklenar), suddenly reenters her life, her relationship with Ryle is upended, and Lily realizes she must learn to rely on her own strength to make an impossible choice for her future.

The cast includes Blake Lively, Justin Baldoni, Jenny Slate, Hasan Minhaj, Amy Morton, and Brandon Sklenar.

Cuckoo

Cuckoo is a 2024 horror film written and directed by Tillman Singer. It had its world premiere at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival on February 16, 2024. Following his 2018 festival sensation Luz, German director Singer seems to have once again crafted a uniquely horrifying experience that critics are already raving about. The film is also being praised for the decision to be shot on 35 mm.

Seventeen-year-old Gretchen reluctantly leaves America to live with her father at a resort in the German Alps. Plagued by strange noises and bloody visions, she soon discovers a shocking secret that concerns her own family.

The cast includes Hunter Schafer (Euphoria), Dan Stevens (The Guest), Jessica Henwick (Glass Onion, The Royal Hotel), Marton Csokas, Jan Bluthardt, and Astrid Bergès-Frisbey.

The Instigators

The Instigators is a 2024 heist thriller comedy film directed by Doug Liman, written by Chuck Maclean and Casey Affleck, and starring Affleck and Matt Damon, who also produces the film alongside Ben Affleck under their production company Artists Equity for distribution by Apple TV+ under Apple Original Films.

Rory (Matt Damon) and Cobby (Casey Affleck) are unlikely partners thrown together for a heist. However, when it goes awry, they team up to outrun police, backward bureaucrats, and a vengeful crime boss.

The cast includes Matt Damon, Casey Affleck, Hong Chau, Michael Stuhlbarg, Paul Walter Hauser, Ving Rhames, Alfred Molina, Toby Jones, Jack Harlow, and Ron Perlman.

Trap

Trap is a 2024 mystery thriller film written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan. The film is produced by Ashwin Rajan, Marc Bienstock, and M. Night Shyamalan. The executive producer is Steven Schneider. The film features performances by rising music star Saleka Shyamalan, M. Night Shyamalan’s oldest daughter.

A father and teen daughter attend a pop concert, where they realize they’re at the center of a dark and sinister event.

The cast includes Josh Hartnett, Ariel Donoghue, Saleka Shyamalan, Hayley Mills, and Allison Pill.

Harold and the Purple Crayon

Harold and the Purple Crayon is a 2024 live-action hybrid family adventure/comedy directed by Carlos Saldanha. The film’s screenplay is written by David Guion & Michael Handelman, based on the 1955 children’s picture book by Crockett Johnson.

Inside of his book, adventurous Harold (Zachary Levi) can make anything come to life simply by drawing it. After he grows up and draws himself off the book’s pages and into the physical world, Harold finds he has a lot to learn about real life—and that his trusty purple crayon may set off more hilarious hijinks than he thought possible. When the power of unlimited imagination falls into the wrong hands, it will take all of Harold and his friends’ creativity to save both the real world and his own. Harold and the Purple Crayon is the first film adaptation of the beloved children’s classic that has captivated young readers for decades.

Sing Sing

Sing Sing is a 2023 drama film directed by Greg Kwedar, who co-wrote the screenplay with Clint Bentley. Based on the real-life Rehabilitation Through the Arts program at Sing Sing maximum security prison, the film centres on a group of inmates involved in the creation of theatrical stage shows through the program. Sing Sing premiered in the Special Presentations program at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival.

Divine G, imprisoned at Sing Sing for a crime he didn't commit, finds purpose by acting in a theatre group alongside other incarcerated men in this story of resilience, humanity, and the transformative power of art.

The cast includes professional actors including Best Actor Nominees Colman Domingo and Paul Raci, but mainly focuses on real-life former inmates who were themselves alumni of the program during their incarceration.

Sing Sing is set to debut in limited theaters July 12th 2024, before a wide release on August 2nd, courtesy of A24. Watch the official trailer below.

Deadpool & Wolverine

Deadpool & Wolverine is a 2024 R-rated superhero action film directed by Shawn Levy (Date Night, Free Guy). The film serves as the 3rd entry in the Deadpool film franchise.

Wolverine is recovering from his injuries when he crosses paths with the loudmouth, Deadpool. They team up to defeat a common enemy.

The cast includes Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Morena Baccarin, and Jennifer Garner.

The Good Half

The Good Half is a 2023 coming-of-age comedy drama film directed by Robert Schwartzman, from a screenplay by Brett Ryland. The film premiered at the Tribeca Festival on June 8th, 2024.

Renn Wheeland (Nick Jonas) returns home to Cleveland for his mother’s funeral. Once there, he forges new relationships while healing old ones, before confronting his problems and trying to face his grief.

The cast includes Nick Jonas, Brittany Snow, David Arquette, Alexandra Shipp, Matt Walsh, and Elisabeth Shue.

Sunny

Sunny is a 2024 black comedy television series created by Katie Robbins, based on the novel The Dark Manual by Irish writer Colin O'Sullivan.

Suzie, an American woman living in Kyoto whose husband and son vanished in a plane crash, receives a domestic robot from her husband's robotics company.

The cast includes Rashida Jones, Hidetoshi Nishijima, Joanna Sotomura, Judy Ongg, and Jun Kunimura.

Twisters

Twisters is a 2024 disaster film directed by Lee Isaac Chung (Minari) from a screenplay by Mark L. Smith (The Revenant). Produced by Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley, the producers of the Jurassic, Bourne, and Indiana Jones series of films. It is a standalone sequel to the 1996 film Twister, written by the late Michael Crichton.

Daisy Edgar-Jones (Where the Crawdads Sing) stars as Kate Cooper, a former storm chaser haunted by a devastating encounter with a tornado during her college years who now studies storm patterns on screens safely in New York City. She is lured back to the open plains by her friend, Javi (Golden Globe nominee Anthony Ramos, In the Heights) to test a groundbreaking new tracking system. There, she crosses paths with Tyler Owens (Glen Powell, Top Gun: Maverick and Anyone But You), the charming and reckless social-media superstar who thrives on posting his storm-chasing adventures with his raucous crew, the more dangerous the better.

As storm season intensifies, terrifying phenomena never seen before are unleashed, and Kate, Tyler and their competing teams find themselves squarely in the paths of multiple storm systems converging over central Oklahoma in the fight of their lives.

My Spy The Eternal City

My Spy The Eternal City is a 2024 spy action comedy film directed by Peter Segal (Get Smart, The Longest Yard, 50 First Dates), who also directed the first film back in 2020, from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jon and Erich Hoeber.

When Sophie’s (Chloe Coleman) high school choir is selected for an Italian tour culminating in a performance for the Pope in Vatican City, JJ (Dave Bautista) sees this as an opportunity to bond with his new stepdaughter, so he volunteers to help chaperone the group through the Venetian canals, across Florence’s renowned bridges and into Rome’s most historic sites. Instead he finds that he and Sophie have become unwitting pawns in a terrorist plot that could end the world as we know it.

The cast includes Dave Bautista, Chloe Coleman, Kristen Schaal, Flula Borg, Craig Robinson, Anna Faris, and Ken Jeong.

Those About to Die

Those About to Die is a 2024 epic drama series set in ancient Rome developed by Robert Rodat, and directed by Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow) and Marco Kreuzpaintner.

A new series set in the corrupt world of the spectacle-driven gladiatorial competition, exploring a side of ancient Rome never before told — the dirty business of entertaining the masses, giving the mob what they want most…blood and sport. The series introduces an ensemble of characters from all corners of the Roman Empire who collide at the explosive intersection of sports, politics, and dynasties.

Oddity

Oddity is a 2024 paranormal horror thriller film written and directed by Damian Mc Carthy. Mc Carthy is known to be a big fan of browsing antique stores and claims to have personally acquired several of the props used in the film. Oddity premiered at South by Southwest on March 8th, 2024, where it won the Audience Award in the Midnighter section at the festival.

After Dani is brutally murdered, her blind occultist twin sister Darcy, goes after those responsible using inherited haunted items as her tools of revenge.

The cast includes Carolyn Bracken, Gwilym Lee, Tadhg Murphy, Caroline Menton, Steve Wall, Jonathan French, and Joe Rooney

Lady in the Lake

Lady in the Lake is a 2024 limited series based on the novel of the same name by Laura Lippman. The author said that with the book she took inspiration from two real-life murders that happened in her youth. The first was the abduction and murder of an 11-year-old girl, and the second was the death of a 33-year-old woman found in the fountain of the Druid Hill Park Reservoir.

In 1960s Baltimore, an investigative journalist working on an unsolved murder clashes with a woman working to advance the agenda of the city's black community. The protagonist ditches her doting husband and big Pikesville home to pursue a career as a newspaper reporter. She becomes obsessed with unraveling the mystery of two separate killings: eleven-year-old Tessie Fine and a bartender named Cleo Sherwood.

The cast includes Natalie Portman, Moses Ingram, Y'lan Noel, Mikey Madison, Sean Ringgold, Brett Gelman, Noah Jupe, and Mike Epps.

Lee Harker, a talented new FBI agent, has been assigned to an unsolved case of a serial killer. As the investigation becomes more complicated with occult evidence uncovered, Harker realizes a personal link to the ruthless killer and must act quickly to prevent another family murder.

Brought in to fix NASA’s public image, sparks fly in all directions as marketing maven Kelly Jones (Scarlett Johansson) wreaks havoc on launch director Cole Davis’s (Channing Tatum) already difficult task. Despicable Me 4

Despicable Me 4 is a 2024 animated comedy film produced by Illumination and distributed by Universal Pictures. It will serve as the sequel to Despicable Me 3 (2017), the fourth main installment, and the sixth installment overall in the Despicable Me franchise. The film is being directed by Chris Renaud, co-directed by Patrick Delage (in his feature directorial debut), produced by Chris Meledandri, and written by Mike White.

Gru faces a new nemesis in Maxime Le Mal (Emmy winner Will Ferrell) and his femme fatale girlfriend Valentina (Emmy nominee Sofia Vergara), and the family is forced to go on the run.  

The cast of voice actors includes Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Pierre Coffin, Miranda Cosgrove, and Steve Coogan.
