IRON LUNG is a 2026 sci-fi horror thriller film written and directed by Mark Fischbach, and is based on the 2022 indie hit videogame by David Szymanski. Fischbach, better known as Markplier on YouTube, also stars and self-financed the film. After two years in production and a huge grassroots movement by fans to boost the film it is finally receiving a massive theatrical run. The production reportedly used over 80,000 gallons of fake blood, claiming the world record for the most blood used in a horror movie, surpassing the 50,000 gallons used in the 2013 horror film Evil Dead.
In a post-apocalyptic future after "The Quiet Rapture"—an event where all stars and planets vanished—a convict (Mark Fischbach) is sent to explore an ocean of blood on a desolate moon in a cramped, windowless submarine.
The cast includes Mark Fischbach, Caroline Rose Kaplan, and voice/cameo roles from fellow creators like Seán McLoughlin (Jacksepticeye), and game creator David Szymanski.
IRON LUNG is set to debut in theaters January 30th, courtesy of Markiplier Studios. Watch the official trailer below.
