The cast is absolutely stellar, and I can honestly say this is one of if not my overall favorite new show simply because of how rare it is for a T.V. show to display this much genuine heart. - Mandy Moore, the youngest actor in the main cast, won her role after an audition suggested by writer Dan Fogelman, whom she knew from working on Tangled (2010).
- Almost completely broke when she landed the role of Kate on the series, Chrissy Metz only had 81 cents in her bank account when she auditioned.
- Jack, played by Milo Ventimiglia, is the only main character to appear in every episode in the first season.
