SHEEP IN THE BOX (Japanese: 箱の中の羊) is a 2026 Japanese sci-fi drama written and directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda. The film had its world premiere at the main competition of the 2026 Cannes Film Festival where it competed for the Palme d'Or.
In the near future, Otone and Kensuke, a grieving couple who have lost their son, take into their lives a humanoid identical to their late child.
The cast includes Haruka Ayase, Daigo Yamamoto, and Rimu Kuwaki.
