In the comic book the series is based on, the character Hughie is from Scotland and he resembles English actor and writer Simon Pegg. Pegg was originally going to take on the role but because it took so long to get the project off the ground he took on the role of Hughie’s father instead.
Translucent is a new character created for the television show. In the graphic novel, the remaining member of The Seven was an "alien" character named Jack From Jupiter, an expy of DC's Martian Manhunter.
