The Netflix Dark Comedy Dead to Me - Why You NEED To Watch It

February 17, 2017

The Netflix dark comedy Dead to Me, starring Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini, somehow slipped under the radar for most people myself included. I stumbled on the show sometime last year while aimlessly browsing the never-ending library of shows and movies like we all do, especially these days – and let me tell this is a show worth watching.

Perhaps I have a darkness inside me, not quite Dexter level of course, but I have always enjoyed dark comedies - I just like the balance between humor and tragedy. Is that weird? Maybe, but it's what I like. So Dead to Me meets that balance seamlessly, and has the perfect cast as well. Not only do you get Applegate and Cardellini, who starred in the Netflix drama Bloodline, but you also get a healthy dose of my man James Marsden. And really, who doesn’t like James Marsden? He is a sharp lookin’ man.

In Dead to Me Christina Applegate's character, Jen, suffers an unimaginable tragedy – her husband is killed in a hit and run that remains unsolved. She was extremely cynical and not a fan of other people in general prior to the accident, and this just made things worse. Eventually she gives in and joins a grief support group where she meets Cardellini's character, Judy, who immediately wants to be best friends with her. Judy's overly friendly nature puts Jen on edge and makes her suspicious, but they soon become inseparable until eventually tensions rise as a dark secret threatens to ruin everything. Judy has her reasons for why she made it a point to enter Jen’s life, but balancing the friend she wants to be while hiding a dark truth could prove to be too much for her to handle. Will it blow up in her face with devastating consequences? Watch to find out!

Dead to Me has relatable characters, top-tier acting, great writing, and the perfect balance between drama and comedy that kept me hooked from start to finish – plus the episodes are less than 30 minutes each so you'll binge the first season in no time and be ready for season 2 on May 8th.

Not convinced yet? Just watch the trailer for season 1 below and you will be. I have also included the teaser for the new season as well. Also check out an exclusive preview for Season 2 of Dead to Me.

Enjoy!!
