From director Michael Showalter (The Big Sick, Search party), The Lovebirds tells the story of a young couple who find themselves pulled into a bizarre (and hilarious) murder mystery. Working to clear their names and solve the case, they need to figure out how they, and their relationship, can survive the night. Check out the official trailer below!!

Ted Takes Funny Quotes, Kumail Nanjiani:

  • I stay home. It's the best place to be alone. There is hardly any walk-through traffic.

  • I never really got into game shows. The easiest one is 'Wheel Of Fortune' because you just have to know words, and for the most part everyone knows words.

  • Wikipedia is kind of weird. I feel it's lame to put up my own page, but I desperately want someone else to do it.

The Netflix Dark Comedy Dead to Me - Why You NEED To Watch It

February 17, 2017

The Netflix dark comedy Dead to Me, starring Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini, somehow slipped under the radar for most people myself included. I stumbled on the show sometime last year while aimlessly browsing the never-ending library of shows and movies like we all do, especially these days – and let me tell this is a show worth watching.

Perhaps I have a darkness inside me, not quite Dexter level of course, but I have always enjoyed dark comedies - I just like the balance between humor and tragedy. Is that weird? Maybe, but it's what I like. So Dead to Me meets that balance seamlessly, and has the perfect cast as well. Not only do you get Applegate and Cardellini, who starred in the Netflix drama Bloodline, but you also get a healthy dose of my man James Marsden. And really, who doesn’t like James Marsden? He is a sharp lookin’ man.

In Dead to Me Christina Applegate's character, Jen, suffers an unimaginable tragedy – her husband is killed in a hit and run that remains unsolved. She was extremely cynical and not a fan of other people in general prior to the accident, and this just made things worse. Eventually she gives in and joins a grief support group where she meets Cardellini's character, Judy, who immediately wants to be best friends with her. Judy's overly friendly nature puts Jen on edge and makes her suspicious, but they soon become inseparable until eventually tensions rise as a dark secret threatens to ruin everything. Judy has her reasons for why she made it a point to enter Jen’s life, but balancing the friend she wants to be while hiding a dark truth could prove to be too much for her to handle. Will it blow up in her face with devastating consequences? Watch to find out!

Dead to Me has relatable characters, top-tier acting, great writing, and the perfect balance between drama and comedy that kept me hooked from start to finish – plus the episodes are less than 30 minutes each so you'll binge the first season in no time and be ready for season 2 on May 8th.

Not convinced yet? Just watch the trailer for season 1 below and you will be. I have also included the teaser for the new season as well. Also check out an exclusive preview for Season 2 of Dead to Me.

Enjoy!!

Need Your Ozark Fix? 10 Shows Fans Will Love

February 17, 2017

So you flew threw the new season of Ozark in record time and are left wondering now what, right? We get it and you are NOT alone.

The hit Netflix crime drama starring Jason Bateman and Laura Linney is addicting edge-of-your seat entertainment, and like any addict coming back down from a memorable high, you need more. - and fast!

Your friends at Ted Takes have put together a list of 10 shows any fan of Ozark will happily binge in no time, and even ranked them in order to make things easier for you. Enjoy!

#1 - Breaking Bad

“A high school chemistry teacher diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer turns to manufacturing and selling methamphetamine in order to secure his family’s future.”

Obviously Breaking Bad is #1, what else were you expecting? If you haven’t seen this show yet you must be living under a rock, but that’s none of our business. This is one of the best shows available when it comes to storytelling and character development and it is an absolute must-watch. I’ve been through the entire series 3 times already.

Available On: Netflix

#2 - Fargo

“Various chronicles of deception, intrigue and murder in and around frozen Minnesota. Yet all of these tales mysteriously lead back one way or another to Fargo, North Dakota.”

The movie Fargo is a cult classic and something I have seen easily 20 times, maybe more. I just can’t get enough of the accent. FX developed an anthology series based on the movie with showrunner Noah Hawley handling things, and it is pure gold. Each season is stacked with talent and is amazing from start to finish. If you have Hulu, definitely check this one out.

Available On: Hulu

#3 - Justified

“U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens’s reassigned from Miami to his childhood home in the poor, rural coal mining towns in eastern Kentucky.”

If you are anything like me and can appreciate the presence of a badass leading man in a fun shoot first and ask questions later scenario, Justified is for you. U.S. Marshall Raylan Givens, played by Timothy Olyphant, is the guy you want to name your next kid after - and trust me when I say you won’t be the first to do it. Enjoy the wild ride.

Available On: Hulu

#4 - Bloodline

“A family finds themselves forced to face their past secrets and scars when the black sheep returns home.”

Bloodline is an immersive drama set in the Florida Keys lead by Kyle Chandler and Ben Mendelsohn. The show creates tension like very few shows can and includes a ton of complicated characters making you question who it is you should be rooting for. Enjoy your time with the “not so perfect” Rayburn family.

Available On: Netflix

#5 - Mindhunter

“Set in the late 1970s, two FBI agents are tasked with interviewing serial killers to solve open cases.”

We all have a sick and twister fascination with serial killers, which is why they have made like 10 documentaries or shows based on Ted Bundy, one of the most heralded and ruthless of them all. What makes Mindhunter so interesting is not only is it based on true events, but the show takes you right through the time when society learned that such a thing as a serial killer even existed. Well written, well acted, and just damn all around enjoyable.

Available On: Netflix

#6 - The Sinner

“Anthology series that examines how and why ordinary people commit brutal crimes.”

You might not realize this but The Sinner is a very, very dark show right from the beginning. I mean if you can appreciate a good old fashioned “holy f**k did that really just happen?!” moment then this show is for you. So what are you waiting for?

Available On: Netflix, Prime Video

#7 - Bates Motel

“A contemporary prequel to Psycho, giving a portrayal of how Norman Bates’ psyche unravels through his teenage years, and how deeply intricate his relationship with his mother, Norma, truly is.”

Well-written and often times very uncomfortable, Bates Motel is a must-watch for fans of the cult classic film. With stellar performances from leads Vera Farmiga and Freddie Highmore and plenty of emotional baggage to sort through, this show will keep you wanting more.

Available On: Netflix

#8 - Narcos

“A chronicled look at the criminal exploits of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar, as well as the many other drug kingpins who plagued the country through the years.”

Narcos follows the rise of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar, and with stellar writing and an impressive cast from top to bottom, this is a show worth getting into. Did you know a guy who works for the show was killed in Mexico scouting locations? It’s true, this show is bananas.

Available On: Netflix

#9 - Arrested Development

“Level-headed son Michael Bluth takes over family affairs after his father is imprisoned. But the rest of his spoiled, dysfunctional family are making his job unbearable.”

Jason Bateman plays the lead role in this addictive comedy, so I think it’s obvious why Ozark fans would enjoy it. Oh and spoiler alert, it’s not a crime drama, not even close.

Available On: Netflix, Hulu

#10 - Peaky Blinders

“A gangster family epic set in 1919 Birmingham, England; centered on a gang who sew razor blades in the peaks of their caps, and their fierce boss Tommy Shelby.”

Fans of the HBO series Boardwalk Empire fill fall in love with Peaky Blinders right away, but those of you who just simply can’t get enough of brutal and unapologetic violence, this is a show for you as well.

Available On: Netflix

Frank Costanza or Arthur Spooner - Jerry Stiller Is A LEGEND

February 17, 2017

A monumental acting career that began in 1957 with a one-episode appearance on a television series called The Big Story, Jerry Stiller was, and is, an American Icon that will live on forever in the hearts and minds of fans all over the globe. Born Gerald Isaac Stiller, in New York, NY, on June 8th, 1927, Stiller left this world the same way he lived his life – on his own terms. He passed away of natural causes on May 11th, 2020 at 92 years old, leaving a gaping hole in the entertainment industry. Like the beloved Betty White, we all assumed Stiller would live forever (please don't take Betty too!).

But even though he punched the clock for the final time, we can all join together to remember the man that made us laugh and smile more times than we can count. Stiller was a natural when it came to comedy, he had the perfect combination of his trademark delayed delivery, facial expressions, and mannerisms. Whether it was a starring role or a brief cameo, he always made his presence known. Stiller is also the father of famed actor Ben Stiller, one of two children with his late wife Anne Meara, who passed away in 2015.

When it comes to Jerry Stiller, you will likely find that most fans are divided right down the middle as far as which character resonates most with them – it is either his eight season run as Frank Constanza in Seinfeld, a role that essentially revitalized his career, or his 9 seasons as Arthur Spooner in the sitcom The King of Queens. As much as I enjoy Seinfeld, I can say without a doubt his role as Arthur is by far my favorite. Living in the basement of his son-and-law Doug and daughter Carrie Heffernan, played by Kevin James and Leah Remini, Arthur Spooner was hilarious in every way.

I own all 9 seasons of The King of Queens and when I was living alone in my mid 20's, I would pick a random DVD and put it on with the TV sleep timer set for an hour or so allowing me to fall asleep to my favorite sitcom characters. Now I have my DVR set to always have at least 5 episodes recorded and anytime a marathon runs on cable that channel is on the TV – it is just one of those shows that puts me at ease. I could listen to Doug and Arthur’s back and forth all day long. Stiller’s late wife Anne also played a prominent role in the show as Veronica Olchin, Spence's mom, who was always hilariously trying to proposition Arthur whenever she had the chance. Going forward I will surely watch The King of Queens with a heavier heart than usual, but Jerry Stiller lived a long and successful life of 92 years and his memory will live on forever.

Gerald “Jerry” Isaac Stiller

Born: June 8th, 1927

Died: May 11th, 2020.

The two sitcoms he regularly appeared on, Seinfeld (1989) and The King of Queens (1998), both aired their series finales on May 14 (1998 and 2007 respectively). Stiller passed away on May 11th, 2020, just 3 days shy of the date both shows concluded.

Jerry Stiller released his autobiography titled Married to Laughter: A Love Story Featuring Ann Meara in 2001, below is the description from Amazon and the link for the book can be found here.

“From his initial success in the coffeehouses of Greenwich Village with Anne Meara, who would be the love of his life, to his serenity-seeking days on Seinfeld and later on The King of Queens, Jerry Stiller has consistently proven himself to be a force in showbiz. In Married to Laughter, he brings us into his world and recounts, in a tone that is laugh-out-loud funny and strikingly honest, his passion for entertainment and working with people such as Ed Sullivan, Mike Nichols, Robin Williams, and Jerry Seinfeld, who were there along the way.

At the heart of this tale is Stiller’s partnership, both onstage and off, with Anne Meara. He shares the affectionate story of their long-surviving relationship, spotlighting the pleasures and challenges of raising a family in an interfaith show business marriage.
Married to Laughter is the story of an actor who never let go of his dreams, but ultimately it is the story of two people who found their place in show business without losing sight of each other.”
