Co-written and directed by Sean Baker, The Florida Project is a unique coming-of-age drama centered on the summertime adventures of 3 youngsters who refuse to be brought down by the struggles of the adults around them. Critics have been absolutely raving about the film and I will trust pretty much anything A24 is willing to attach themselves to, so i'm pretty excited to check this one out. The cast includes Willem Dafoe, Brooklynn Prince, Valeria Cotto, and Bria Vinaite. Written and directed by Victor Salva, the man who brought us Jeepers Creepers 1 & 2, the 3rd entry is rumored to pick up where the first film left off. A great deal of controversy surrounds the writer/director who is a convicted pedophile due to his 1988 conviction of molesting a 12-year old boy. A great deal of people refuse to watch the film due to the directors past (this is all news to me by the way). Checkered pasts aside, I have seen the first movie quite a few times and I consider it to be pretty well done with a solid cast, decent writing, and a very creepy freak of nature trying to dismember everything in his path. This new one will be low-budget but it think it still has the potential to be pretty good. The cast includes Meg Foster, Gina Philips, Jonathan Breck, and Carrie Lazar. I was obsessed with Liman's Edge of Tomorrow, also starring Cruise as well as Emily Blunt (full disclosure she played a big part in the obsession), so I can't wait to see what he does with a story as crazy as this one.
