What If...? is an upcoming animated anthology series created by A.C. Bradley for the streaming service Disney+, based on the Marvel Comics series of the same name. It explores what would happen if major moments from the films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) occurred differently. The series is produced by Marvel Studios, their first animated series since becoming their own production company. Bradley serves as head writer of the series, with Bryan Andrews directing.

The series was officially announced a month later, with many characters in the series set to be voiced by the actors who portray them in the films. Marvel Studios' head of visual development Ryan Meinerding helped define the series' cel-shaded animation style, which was designed to reflect the films. Animation for the first season is provided by Squeeze and Flying Bark Productions, with Stephan Franck as head of animation.

What If...?' is scheduled to premiere on August 11th, 2021, and will consist of 10 episodes. It will be part of Phase 4 of the MCU. A second 10-episode season is in development. Watch the official trailer below.

Demon Slayer the Movie: Mugen Train

March 29, 2017

“After his family was brutally murdered and his sister turned into a demon, Tanjiro Kamado's journey as a demon slayer began. Tanjiro and his comrades embark on a new mission aboard the Mugen Train, on track to despair.”

Okay so if you had no f’n clue what this movie was prior to clicking on this preview, you’re not alone. To say that I am not an anime guy would be a bit of an understatement, because well, I am very much NOT an anime guy. But I also understand the obsession and realize that some of the stuff out there is pretty legit to say the least. Which brings me to Demon Slayer the Movie: Mugen Train.

Remember that little old pandemic that was supposed to come and go? Yeah, the one we are still in. Well when it got going in March of last year and we were all more or less living quarantine style, in other countries people were still going to the movie theater and were obsessed with this movie. It was quickly becoming something of a phenomenon for fans of anime earning more than $400 million in ticket sales. Post-COVID times that equates to like $5 billion I think.

I don’t believe movies releasing in U.S. theaters since the start of the pandemic has earned that much in ticket sales in total. It’s depressing if I’m being honest. Alright well I’m not going to try and pretend to know enough about anime to explain this movie to you, I will say that it apparently picks up after the finale of the first season of the series which can be found on Netflix and Hulu (I guess try and watch that first perhaps), and is some form of a love letter to pop culture. Think Ready Player One, I suppose.
