I read the book and loved it, it’s the closest I have come to The Girl on the Train as far as mind-bending psychological thrillers. Can’t wait for the movie.

Archive 81 is a 2021 horror series executive produced by horror titan James Wan (Saw, Insidious, The Conjuring, Malignant). The series is inspired by the found footage podcast of the same name from Marc Sollinger and Daniel Powell, who created the podcast and co-produced the series.

When archivist Dan Turner takes a mysterious job restoring a collection of damaged videotapes from 1994, he finds himself reconstructing the work of documentary filmmaker Melody Pendras and her investigation into a dangerous cult. As Dan is drawn into Melody’s story, he becomes convinced he can save her from the terrifying end she met 25 years ago.

The series stars Mamoudou Athie (Underwater), Dina Shihabi (Altered Carbon), Martin Donovan (Big Little Lies), Matt McGorry (How To Get Away With Murder), Julia Chan (Katy Keene), Evan Jonigkeit, and Ariana Neal (Hidden Figures).

Things Heard and Seen

Based on the acclaimed novel by Elizabeth Brundage, the horror thriller Things Heard and Seen is directed by Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini, with Berman adapting the screenplay. The cast includes Amanda Seyfried, James Norton, Rhea Seehorn, and Natalia Dyer.

Sing 2

Sing 2 is an 2021 computer-animated musical comedy film produced by Illumination and distributed by Universal Pictures. The sequel to the 2016 film Sing, it is written and directed by Garth Jennings.

Can-do koala Buster Moon and his all-star cast of animal performers prepare to launch a dazzling stage extravaganza in the glittering entertainment capital of the world. There's just one hitch -- he has to find and persuade the world's most reclusive rock star to join them.

The voice cast includes Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson, Nick Kroll, Taron Egerton, Tori Kelly, Nick Offerman, and Jennings reprising their roles from the first film. The sequel is also set to feature characters voiced by Bobby Cannavale, Halsey, Pharrell Williams, Letitia Wright, Eric André, Chelsea Peretti, and Bono.

From director Reinaldo Marcus Green (Monsters and Men), along with the Academy Award-winning writing team Diana Ossana and Larry McMurtry (Brokeback Mountain), Joe Bell is a 2021 drama that tells the intimate and emotional true story of an Oregonian father who pays tribute to his gay teenage son Jadin, embarking on a self-reflective walk across America to speak his heart to heartland citizens about the real and terrifying costs of bullying.

The cast includes Mark Wahlberg, Reid Miller, Connie Britton, and Gary Sinise.

Swagger

Swagger is a 2021 sports drama television series from Kevin Durant and Reggie Rock Bythewood.

Inspired by Kevin Durant's youth basketball playing experience on the AAU circuit, Swagger explores the world of youth basketball, and the players, their families and coaches who walk the fine line between dreams and ambition, and opportunism and corruption.

Swagger premieres on October 29th on Apple TV+.

In the Earth

Queenpins

From writer-directors Aron Gaudet and Gita Pullapilly, Queenpins is a 2021 comedy inspired by a true story about a bored and frustrated suburban homemaker, Connie (Kristen Bell) and her best pal JoJo (Kirby Howell-Baptiste), a vlogger with dreams, who turn a hobby into a multi-million dollar counterfeit coupon caper. After firing off a letter to the conglomerate behind a box of cereal gone stale, and receiving an apology along with dozens of freebies, the duo hatch an illegal coupon club scheme that scams millions from mega-corporations and delivers deals to legions of fellow coupon clippers.

On the trail to total coupon dominance, a hapless Loss Prevention Officer (Paul Walter Hauser) from the local supermarket chain joins forces with a determined U.S. Postal Inspector (Vince Vaughn) in hot pursuit of these newly-minted “Queenpins” of pink collar crime.

Demonic

Demonic is a 2021 Canadian sci-fi horror film written, co-produced and directed by Neill Blomkamp, the man behind District 9 and Chappie. It tells the story of a young woman who unleashes terrifying demons when supernatural forces at the root of a decades-old rift between mother and daughter are ruthlessly revealed.

The cast includes Carly Pope, Chris William Martin, and Nathalie Boltt.

Boogie

The Humans

The Humans is a 2021 drama written and directed by Stephen Karam in his directorial debut, and is based on his one-act Tony Award-winning play of the same name. It had its world premiere at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival on September 12th, 2021.

Erik Blake has gathered three generations of his Pennsylvania family to celebrate Thanksgiving at his daughter’s apartment in lower Manhattan. As darkness falls outside and eerie things start to go bump in the night, the group’s deepest fears are laid bare.

The Shrink Next Door is an 2021 dark comedy miniseries based on the podcast of the same name by Joe Nocera.

Prisoners of the Ghostland

Prisoners of the Ghostland is a 2021 neo-noir western action film directed by Sion Sono, from a script by Aaron Hendry and Reza Sixo Safai. A notorious criminal, Hero, is sent to rescue the governor's adopted granddaughter, who has disappeared into a dark supernatural universe. To escape the nightmare world, Hero must break the evil curse controlling the mysterious Ghostland.

The film stars Nicolas Cage, Sofia Boutella, and Bill Moseley.

Prisoners of the Ghostland had its world premiere at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival on January 31st, 2021. It will be released in select theaters and VOD on September 17th, by RLJE Films. Watch the official trailer below.

He's All That

He's All That is a 2021 teen romantic comedy directed by Mark Waters, from a screenplay by R. Lee Fleming Jr. The film is a gender-swapped remake of She's All That (1999), telling the story of a high school influencer who accepts a challenge to turn the school’s biggest loser into prom king.

The cast includes Addison Rae, Tanner Buchanan, Myra Molloy, Madison Pettis, Peyton Meyer, Isabella Crovetti, and Rachael Leigh Cook.

Hawkeye

Hawkeye is a 2021 television miniseries created by Jonathan Igla for the streaming service Disney+, based on Marvel Comics featuring the characters Clint Barton / Hawkeye and Kate Bishop / Hawkeye. It is planned to be the fifth television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) produced by Marvel Studios, sharing continuity with the films of the franchise and taking place after the events of the film Avengers: Endgame (2019). Igla serves as head writer with Rhys Thomas leading the directing team.

Series based on the Marvel Comics superhero Hawkeye, centering on the adventures of Young Avenger, Kate M. Bishop, who took on the role after the original Avenger, Clint Barton.

Jeremy Renner reprises his role as Clint Barton from the film series, with Hailee Steinfeld joining him as Kate Bishop. Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Zahn McClarnon, Brian d'Arcy James, and Alaqua Cox also star.

Hawkeye is scheduled to premiere on November 24th on Disney+, and will consist of six episodes, concluding on December 29th. It is part of Phase Four of the MCU. Watch the official trailer below.
