Infinite Storm

Infinite Storm is a 2022 survival drama film directed by Małgorzata Szumowska and Michał Englert, from a screenplay by Josh Rollins, based on the article High Places: Footprints in the Snow Lead to an Emotional Rescue by Ty Gagne.

As an experienced climber ascends Mt. Washington, she turns back before she reaches the summit as a huge blizzard approaches. But on her way down, she encounters a lone, stranded man, and takes it upon herself to get them both down the mountain before nightfall arrives and they succumb to the storm. Based on a true story.

The cast includes Naomi Watts, Sophie Okonedo, Billy Howle, Denis O’Hare and Parker Sawyers.

Rumble

From director Hamish Grieve and co-written by Etan Cohen (Tropic Thunder, Men In Black 3), Rumble is a animated comedy that takes place in a world where monster wrestling is a global sport and monsters are superstar athletes, telling the story of teenage Winnie who seeks to follow in her father's footsteps by coaching a loveable underdog monster into a champion.

The cast includes Ben Schwartz, Will Arnett, Geraldine Viswanathan, Terry Crews

Morbius

Morbius is a 2022 superhero film directed by Daniel Espinosa, and written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. It is based on the Marvel Comics character Morbius, the living vampire. It is produced by Colombia Pictures in association with Marvel, and is intended to be the third film in Sony's Spider-Man Universe. After announcing plans for a new shared universe of films inspired by Spider-Man characters beginning with Venom (2018), Sony began developing a film based on Morbius.

Biochemist Michael Morbius tries to cure himself of a rare blood disease, but he inadvertently infects himself with a form of vampirism instead.

The cast includes Jared Leto as Michael Morbius, alongside Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Al Madrigal, and Tyrese Gibson.

  • The character of Morbius can also be glimpsed in the bonus features of the Blade (1998) DVD, in a deleted ending.

  • The New York scenes were actually filmed in Manchesters Northern Quater, UK. All city lights, signs and license plates etc were changed to match those you'd find in New York.

Moon Knight

Moon Knight is a 2022 live-action series from Marvel that officially launches the 2022 slate for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The character was created by writer Doug Moench and artist Don Perlin, and first appeared in Werewolf by Night #32 (August 1975).

A former U.S. marine, struggling with dissociative identity disorder, is granted the powers of an Egyptian moon god. But he soon finds out that these newfound powers can be both a blessing and a curse to his troubled life.

The cast includes Oscar Isaac, Ethan Hawke, Gaspard Ulliel, and May Calamawy.

The Bubble

The Bubble is a 2022 meta comedy film directed by Judd Apatow, from a screenplay by Apatow and Pam Brady.

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, a group of actors travel to a closed film set in England to film the sixth installment of a dinosaur-themed blockbuster franchise for Netflix.

Starring Karen Gillan, Iris Apatow, Fred Armisen, Maria Bakalova, David Duchovny, Keegan-Michael Key, Leslie Mann, Kate McKinnon, Pedro Pascal, and Peter Serafinowicz.

The Outlaws

The Outlaws is a crime thriller comedy television series created and directed by Stephen Merchant, who also stars in the series, with Elgin James serving as co-creator. Merchant said in an interview that his inspiration came from the fact that his mother previously had a job overseeing community service work. The series has already been renewed for a second season.

Seven bickering lawbreakers forced together on community service discover a bag of cash, but they're not the only ones after it.

The cast includes Stephen Merchant, Christopher Walken, Rhianne Barreto, Darren Boyd, Gamba Cole, Jessica Gunning, and Clare Perkins.

The Girl from Plainville

The Girl from Plainville is an 2022 drama miniseries based on true events created by Liz Hannah and Patrick Macmanus. A portion of the series made its debut at SXSW on March 12, 2022.

The true story of Michelle Carter's "texting-suicide" case, exploring her relationship with Conrad Roy III and the events leading up to his death, and, later, her conviction of involuntary manslaughter.

The cast includes Elle Fanning, Colton Ryan, Chloë Sevigny, Cara Buono, and Kai Lennox.

Slow Horses

Slow Horses is a 2022 spy thriller series produced for Apple by See-Saw Films and adapted for television by Will Smith (“Veep”). The series is based on the book of the same name by author Mick Herron. James Hawes directs all six episodes and executive produces.

Slow Horses follows a team of British intelligence agents who serve in a dumping ground department of MI5 – Slough House. Oldman stars as Jackson Lamb, the brilliant but irascible leader of the spies who end up in Slough House due to their career-ending mistakes.

The cast includes Oscar-winning actor Gary Oldman, Academy Award nominee Kristin Scott Thomas (“Darkest Hour”), Academy Award nominee Jonathan Pryce (“The Two Popes”), BAFTA Scotland Award winner Jack Lowden (“Dunkirk”), and Olivia Cooke (“Sound of Metal”).

The Contractor

The Contractor (formerly known as Violence of Action) is a 2022 action thriller film from director Tarik Saleh, making his English language film debut, with J.P. Davis writing the screenplay.

Special Forces Sergeant James Harper is involuntarily discharged from the Army and cut-off from his pension. In debt, out of options and desperate to provide for his family, Harper contracts with a private underground military force. When the very first assignment goes awry, the elite soldier finds himself hunted and on the run, caught in a dangerous conspiracy and fighting to stay alive long enough to get home and uncover the true motives of those who betrayed him.

STX Entertainment originally held the rights to the film, but sold it to Paramount+ and Showtime for $20 million, similar to how they handled things with the comedy Queenpins. Like Queenpins, The Contractor will get a limited theatrical release alongside a VOD release, and will debut on Paramount+ and Showtime later in the year.

The cast includes Chris Pine, Ben Foster, Gillian Jacobs, Eddie Marsan, Florian Munteanu, and Kiefer Sutherland.

The Lost City

The Lost City is a 2022 adventure comedy film directed by Aaron and Adam Nee, who co-wrote the screenplay with Oren Uziel and Dana Fox, from a story by Seth Gordon.

A reclusive romance novelist on a book tour with her cover model gets swept up in a kidnapping attempt that lands them both in a cutthroat jungle adventure.

The film stars Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum in the lead roles, with Daniel Radcliffe, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, and Brad Pitt in supporting roles. Originally Ryan Reynolds was intended to play Tatum’s role as a reunion for the comedy The Proposal, but they were unable to reach a deal leading to Tatum getting the role.

Everything Everywhere All at Once

Everything Everywhere All at Once is a 2022 science fiction action comedy film written and directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, known as Daniels. It had its world premiere at South by Southwest on March 11th, 2022.

An aging Chinese immigrant is swept up in an insane adventure, where she alone can save the world by exploring other universes connecting with the lives she could have led.

The film stars Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, Stephanie Hsu, Jenny Slate, Harry Shum Jr., James Hong, and Jamie Lee Curtis.

Halo

Halo is a 2022 science fiction television series developed by Kyle Killen and Steven Kane, based on the video game franchise of the same name.

The series follows a 26th-century war between the United Nations Space Command and the Covenant, a theocratic-military alliance of several advanced alien races.

Pablo Schreiber and Jen Taylor star as Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 and Cortana, with Taylor reprising her role from the video game series. The cast also includes Natascha McElhone (Dr. Halsey), Bokeem Woodbine (Soren-066), Shabana Azmi (Admiral Margaret Parangosky), Natasha Culzac (Riz-028), Olive Gray (Miranda Keyes), Yerin Ha (Kwan Ha Boo), Bentley Kalu (Vannak-134), Kate Kennedy (Kai-125), Charlie Murphy (Makee) and Danny Sapani (Captain Jacob Keyes).

Pachinko

Pachinko is a 2022 drama television series created by Soo Hugh and directed by Kogonada and Justin Chon. Both serve as executive producers and directed four episodes each, with Kogonada directing the pilot. Kogonada most recently wrote, directed, and edited the drama film After Yang (see our full review here). The series is based on the novel of the same name by Manhattan-based author and journalist Min Jin Lee.

A sweeping saga that chronicles the hopes and dreams of a Korean immigrant family across four generations as they leave their homeland in an indomitable quest to survive and thrive.

Starring Academy Award-winner Yuh-Jung Youn, Lee Minho, Jin Ha, and Minha Kim.

X is a 2022 slasher horror thriller written, directed and edited by Ti West. West is no stranger to the horror genre, previously directing the 2009 horror The House of the Devil, as well as a segment for the 2012 horror anthology V/H/S. X premiered at the SXSW Film Festival on March 13th, with filming taking place in New Zealand.

In 1979, a group of young filmmakers set out to make an adult film in rural Texas, but when their reclusive, elderly hosts catch them in the act, the cast find themselves fighting for their lives.

The film stars Mia Goth, Martin Henderson, Kid Cudi, Jenna Ortega, Brittany Snow, Owen Campbell, and Stephen Ure.

Windfall

Windfall is a 2022 crime thriller from director Charlie McDowell, from a screenplay by Justin Lader, and a story by McDowell and Jason Segel. McDowell previously directed the Mark Duplass and Elisabeth Moss comedy drama The One I Love (2014), and the Netflix drama The Discovery (2017), starring Robert Redford.

A man breaks into a tech billionaire's empty vacation home, but things go sideways when the arrogant mogul and his wife arrive for a last-minute getaway.

The Cast includes Jason Segel, Lily Collins, and Jesse Plemons.

Umma

Umma is a 2022 horror thriller written and directed by Iris K. Shim, and produced by horror legend Sam Raimi. The film is Umma, which is the Korean word for mother, is Shim’s directorial and writing debut.

Amanda and her daughter live a quiet life on an American farm, but when the remains of her estranged mother arrive from Korea, Amanda becomes haunted by the fear of turning into her own mother.

The cast includes Sandra Oh, Fivel Stewart, MeeWha Alana Lee, Tom Yi, Odeya Rush, and Dermot Mulroney.

Deep Water

Deep Water is a 2022 psychological thriller film directed by Adrian Lyne, based on the 1957 novel of the same name by Patricia Highsmith, from a screenplay by Zach Helm and Sam Levinson. It is Lyne’s first film in 20 years since Unfaithful (2002), and he previously directed Fatal Attraction (1987), and Indecent Proposal (1993).

A married couple who have fallen out of love with each other begin playing deadly mind games against one another that begin seeing those around them dying.

The film stars Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas, with Tracy Letts, Rachel Blanchard, and Lil Rel Howery appearing in supporting roles.

Minx

Minx is a 2022 comedy series created and written by Ellen Rapoport, most recently known for Desperados, and Clifford the Big Red Dog. Minx is Lionsgate’s fourth series at HBO Max, alongside Love Life and the upcoming Julia and the animated Santa Inc.

In 1970s Los Angeles, an earnest young feminist joins forces with a low-rent publisher to create the first erotic magazine for women.

The cast includes Ophelia Lovibond, Jake Johnson, Taylor Zakhar Perez, Idara Victor, Oscar Montoya, and Jessica Lowe.
