The Man from Toronto

The Man from Toronto is a 2022 action comedy from director Patrick Hughes, from a screenplay by Robbie Fox and Chris Bremner, and a story by Jason Blumenthal. Hughes is no stranger to action comedies as he previously directed the Expendables 3 (2014), as well as the Hitman’s Bodyguard (2017), and Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard (2021).

A case of mistaken identity arises after a screw-up sales consultant and the world’s deadliest assassin—known only as The Man from Toronto— run into each other at a holiday rental.

The cast includes Kevin Hart, Woody Harrelson, Kaley Cuoco, and Ellen Barkin.

Marcel The Shell With Shoes On

Marcel The Shell With Shoes On is a 2021 live-action animated coming-of-age comedy film from director Dean Fleischer-Camp from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jenny Slate and Nick Paley, based on a story the three of them created with Elisabeth Holm. It is based on the short films of the same name created and uploaded to YouTube by Fleischer-Camp in 2010. Slate reprises her voice role as Marcel, an anthropomorphic shell living with his grandmother Connie. The film premiered at the Telluride Film Festival on September 3rd, 2021.

Marcel is an adorable, 1-inch-tall shell who ekes out a colorful existence with his grandmother, Connie, and their pet lint, Alan. Once part of a sprawling community of shells, they now live alone as the sole survivors of a mysterious tragedy. However, when a documentary filmmaker discovers them, the short film he posts online brings Marcel millions of passionate fans, as well as unprecedented dangers and a new hope of finding his long-lost family.

The cast includes Jenny Slate, Isabella Rossellini, Rosa Salazar, Thomas Mann, and Lesley Stahl.

Lightyear

Lightyear is a 2022 3D computer animated sci-fi action adventure film directed by Angus MacLane, written by Pete Docter, and produced by Disney-Pixar. The film is a spin-off of the Toy Story franchise, and will be Pixar's 26th animated feature.

The definitive origin story of Buzz Lightyear — the hero who inspired the toy, revealing how a young test pilot became the Space Ranger that we all know him to be today.

The talented cast of voice actors include Chris Evans, Taika Waititi, Keke Palmer, Peter Sohn, and Uzo Aduba.

Spiderhead

Spiderhead is a 2022 crime drama directed by Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick, Tron: Legacy), from a screenplay by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. It is based on The New Yorker short story, “Escape From Spiderhead,” by George Saunders.

Two inmates form a connection while grappling with their pasts in a state-of-the-art penitentiary run by a brilliant visionary who experiments on his subjects with mind-altering drugs.

The cast includes Chris Hemsworth, Miles Teller, Jurnee Smollett, and Nathan Jones.

Cha Cha Real Smooth

Cha Cha Real Smooth is a 2022 coming-of-age comedy drama written and directed by Cooper Raiff. His second feature-film, Raiff also stars, produces, and co-edits the film which had it’s world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 23rd, 2022.

Fresh out of college and without a clear life path going forward, 22-year-old Andrew is stuck back at home with his family in New Jersey. But if there’s one thing that belongs on his nonexistent résumé, it’s how to get a party started, which lands him the perfect job of motivational dancing at the bar and bat mitzvahs for his younger brother’s classmates. When Andrew befriends a local mom, Domino, and her daughter, Lola, he finally discovers a future he wants – even if it might not be his own.

The cast includes Cooper Raiff, Dakota Johnson, Brad Garrett, Leslie Mann, Vanessa Burghardt, and Evan Assante.

Good Luck to You, Leo Grande is a 2022 romantic comedy directed by Sophie Hyde, from a screenplay by Katy Brand.

Retired widow Nancy Stokes hires a good-looking young sex worker called Leo Grande, in the hope of enjoying a night of pleasure and self-discovery after an unfulfilling married life.

The cast includes Emma Thompson, Daryl McCormack, Isabella Laughland, and Les Mabaleka.

Brian and Charles

Brian and Charles is a 2022 comedy drama directed by Jim Archer, from a screenplay by David Earl and Chris Hayward. Earl and Hayward also star in the film. The rights were acquired by Focus Features at the Sundance Film Festival where it was a 2022 Official Selection, and it is the directorial debut for Archer.

David Earl and Chris Hayward wrote the screenplay and also star. Rupert Majendie produced for Mr Box Productions. Brian and Charles also stars Louise Brealey, Jamie Michie and Nina Sosanya.  Archer, who also edited the film, developed and co-funded the film with Film4 and the BFI.  Archer previously got his feet wet shooting comedy sketches with friends before writing and directing several short films which resulted in winning gold at the Young Director Awards in Cannes for the short film version of Brian and Charles.

Brian, a lonely inventor in rural Wales, spends his days building quirky, unconventional contraptions that seldom work. Undeterred by his lack of success, Brian attempts his biggest project yet. Three days, a washing machine, and various spare parts later, he's invented Charles, an artificially intelligent robot who learns English from a dictionary and has an obsession with cabbages. What follows is a humorous and entirely heartwarming story about friendship, family, finding love, and letting go.

In addition to screenwriters David Earl and Chris Hayward, the cast also includes Louise Brealey, Jamie Michie, and Nina Sosanya.

Father of the Bride

Father of the Bride is a 2022 romantic comedy film directed by Gaz Alazraki and written by Matt Lopez, based on the 1949 novel of the same name by Edward Streeter. It is the third filmed version of the story, after the original 1950 film and the 1991 remake.

A father's coming to grips with his daughter's upcoming wedding through the prism of multiple relationships within a big, sprawling Cuban-American clan.

The film stars Andy García, Gloria Estefan, Adria Arjona, Isabela Merced, Diego Boneta, and Chloe Fineman.

Halftime

Halftime is a 2022 music documentary directed by Amanda Micheli chronicling the career of superstar musician and actress Jennifer ‘J.Lo’ Lopez.

An intimate peek behind the curtain revealing the grit and determination that makes Jennifer Lopez the icon she is, from her performances onscreen and on stages around the world, to her Super Bowl Halftime show, to the recent Presidential inauguration. The documentary focuses on an international superstar who has inspired people for decades with her perseverance, creative brilliance, and cultural contributions. And it's only the beginning. Halftime serves as the kickoff to the second half of Lopez’s life, as she lays bare her evolution as a Latina, a mother, and an artist, taking agency in her career and using her voice for a greater purpose.

Memoria

From the extraordinary mind of Palme D’or winning director Apichatpong Weerasethakul, and starring Academy Award winner Tilda Swinton, comes a bewildering drama about a Scottish woman, who, after hearing a loud ‘bang’ at daybreak, begins experiencing a mysterious sensory syndrome while traversing the jungles of Colombia. Memoria had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on July 15th, 2021.

God's Favorite Idiot

God's Favorite Idiot is a 2022 apocalyptic workplace comedy television series created by and starring Ben Falcone. Widely known in the world of comedy, the husband of actress Melissa McCarthy usually focuses on films but is taking a shot at a series while still including his wife in a lead role.

Mid level Tech support employee Clark Thompson falls in love with co-worker Amily Luck at exactly the same time he becomes the unwitting messenger of God, filling his world with roller skating, a lake of fire and an impending apocalypse.

The cast includes Melissa McCarthy, Ben Falcone, Rahel Romahn, Denise Roberts, and Kevin Dunn.

Jurassic World Dominion

Jurassic World Dominion is a 2022 science fiction adventure film directed by Colin Trevorrow, who wrote the screenplay with Emily Carmichael, based on a story by Trevorrow and his writing partner, Derek Connolly. It is the sequel to Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018), the sixth installment in the Jurassic Park franchise, and the third film in the Jurassic World trilogy. As with its predecessors, Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley will produce the film, with Trevorrow and Jurassic Park (1993) director Steven Spielberg acting as executive producers.

Four years after Isla Nublar has been destroyed, dinosaurs now live—and hunt—alongside humans all over the world. This fragile balance will reshape the future and determine, once and for all, whether human beings are to remain the apex predators on a planet they now share with history’s most fearsome creatures.

The film stars an ensemble cast including Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Laura Dern, Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, Daniella Pineda, Isabella Sermon, Justice Smith, Omar Sy, and BD Wong reprising their roles from previous films in the franchise, and they are joined by Mamoudou Athie, Scott Haze, Dichen Lachman, Campbell Scott, and DeWanda Wise.

Ms. Marvel

Ms. Marvel is a 2022 television miniseries created by Bisha K. Ali, based on the Marvel Comics featuring the character Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel. It is intended to be the seventh television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) produced by Marvel Studios, sharing continuity with the films of the franchise. Ali serves as head writer with Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah leading the directing team. It will be part of Phase Four of the MCU, and will serve as set-up for the film The Marvels (2023), in which Vellani will reprise her role as Khan along with additional cast members from the series.

Kamala is a superhero fan with an imagination, particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel; Kamala feels like she doesn't fit in at school and sometimes even at home, that is until she gets superpowers like the heroes she's looked up to.

Iman Vellani stars as Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel, with Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Saagar Shaikh, Laurel Marsden, and Azhar Usman also starring.

Hustle

Hustle is a 2022 sports drama film directed by Jeremiah Zagar, from a screenplay by Taylor Materne and Will Fetters. The film is produced by Adam Sandler and LeBron James. Filmed entirely in Pennsylvania, multiple scenes were shot in Center City Philadelphia, including Market Street, the Italian Market, Manayunk, and South Philadelphia.

After discovering a once-in-a-lifetime player with a rocky past abroad, a down on his luck basketball scout takes it upon himself to bring the phenom to the States without his team's approval. Against the odds, they have one final shot to prove they have what it takes to make it in the NBA.

The cast includes Adam Sandler, Queen Latifah, Ben Foster, Robert Duvall, and Juancho Hernangomez.

Dark Winds

Dark Winds is a 2022 mystery crime thriller series created by Graham Roland, based on the Leaphorn & Chee book series by Tony Hillerman. George R. R. Martin and Robert Redford are on the list of executive producers, with Redford having previously produced two other adaptions of the Leaphorn & Chee series, The Dark Wind and Skinwalkers.

Set in 1971 on a remote outpost of the Navajo Nation near Monument Valley, Dark Winds follows Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn of the Tribal Police as he is besieged by a series of seemingly unrelated crimes. The closer he digs to the truth, the more he exposes the wounds of his past. He is joined on this journey by his new deputy, Jim Chee. Chee, too, has old scores to settle from his youth on the reservation. Together, the two men battle the forces of evil, each other and their own personal demons on the path to salvation.

The cast includes Zahn McClarnon, Kiowa Gordon, Noah Emmerich, Jessica Matten, Rainn Wilson, and Deanna Allison.

Evil: Season 3

Evil is a paranormal thriller series created by Michelle King and Robert King. The husband and wife duo are best known for co-creating the hit drama series The Good Wife.

A skeptical clinical psychologist joins a priest-in-training and a blue collar contractor as they investigate supposed abnormal events, including, demonic possession, and other extraordinary occurrences to see if there's a scientific explanation or if something truly supernatural's at work.

The series stars Mike Colter, Michael Emerson, Katja Herbers, and Aasif Mandvi.

You Won't Be Alone

You Won't Be Alone is a 2022 internationally co-produced horror film, written and directed by Goran Stolevski, in his directorial debut.

In 19th-century Macedonia, a young girl is kidnapped and then transformed into a witch by an ancient spirit. Curious about life as a human, the witch accidentally kills a peasant in the nearby village and then takes her victim's shape to live life in her skin.

The cast includes Noomi Rapace, Anamaria Marinca, Alice Englert, Carloto Cotta, Félix Maritaud, and Sara Klimoska.

Crimes of the Future

Crimes of the Future is a 2022 sci-fi horror drama/body horror film written and directed by David Cronenberg, the man responsible for The Fly (1986), and A History of Violence (2005). It is Cronenberg’s first feature film in eight years, and the first film in 35 years not to have his sister Denise head costume design, as she passed away in the summer of 2020. According to Cronenberg himself when asked about the film, he has “unfinished business with the future.” Crimes of the Future was a Competition Official Selection scheduled to debut at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival in May.

As the human species adapts to a synthetic environment, the body undergoes new transformations and mutations. With his partner Caprice, Saul Tenser, celebrity performance artist, publicly showcases the metamorphosis of his organs in avant-garde performances. Timlin, an investigator from the National Organ Registry, obsessively tracks their movements, which is when a mysterious group is revealed… Their mission – to use Saul’s notoriety to shed light on the next phase of human evolution.
