Goodnight Mommy

Goodnight Mommy is a 2022 horror thriller directed by Matt Sobel, from a screenplay by Kyle Warren. It is a remake of the 2014 Austrian film of the same name, written and directed by Severin Fiala and Veronika Franz. The original film was the Austrian entry for best foreign language film at the 88th Academy Awards but wasn’t nominated.

In a lonesome house in the countryside between woods and cornfields live nine-year-old twin brothers who are waiting for their mother in the heat of summer. When she comes home, bandaged after cosmetic surgery, nothing is like before. The children start to doubt that this woman is actually their mother. An existential struggle for identity and fundamental trust emerges.

The cast includes Naomi Watts, Cameron and Nicholas Crovetti (Big Little Lies) playing the twin sons of Watts’ character. Jeremy Bobb (The Outsider), Crystal Lucas-Perry (Mimesis Nosferatu) and Peter Hermann (Younger) also play supporting roles.

Do Revenge

Do Revenge is an upcoming American dark comedy film directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (co-wrote Thor: Love and Thunder with Taika Waititi), who co-wrote the film alongside Celeste Ballard. It stars Camila Mendes (Riverdale), Maya Hawke (Stranger Things), Rish Shah, Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones), and Austin Abrams (Dash & Lily).

The plot, which was inspired by Alfred Hitchcock's Strangers on a Train, follows two cohorts, Drea (Mendes) and Eleanor (Hawke), who agree to go after one another's bullies.

God's Country

God's Country is a 2022 crime thriller from director Julian Higgins, who co-wrote the screenplay with Shay Ogbonna. The film premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival, and is based on the short story “Winter Light” by James Lee Burke.

When a college professor in the remote mountains of the American West confronts two hunters she catches trespassing on her property, she’s drawn into an escalating battle of wills with catastrophic consequences.

The cast includes Thandiwe Newton (Westworld), Jeremy Bobb, Joris Jarsky, Kai Lennox, Jefferson White (Yellowstone), and Tanaya Beatty.

Barbarian

Barbarian is a 2022 American horror thriller film written and directed by Zach Cregger (starred in Date and Switch, Opening Night). It stars Georgina Campbell (Flowers, Krypton), Bill Skarsgård (It, It Chapter Two), and Justin Long (Dodgeball, Live Free or Die Hard). Arnon Milchan, Roy Lee, Raphael Margules, and J.D. Lifshitz produce.

In Barbarian, a young woman traveling to Detroit for a job interview books a rental home. But when she arrives late at night, she discovers that the house is double booked, and a strange man is already staying there. Against her better judgment, she decides to spend the evening but soon discovers that there’s a lot more to fear than just an unexpected house guest.

Barbarian premiered at the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con and is scheduled to be released on September 9, 2022, by 20th Century Studios. Watch the official trailer below.

The film stars Emma Roberts (We’re the Millers), Thomas Mann (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl), Madelaine Petsch (Riverdale), Lewis Tan (Mortal Kombat), and Britt Robertson (I Still Believe).

The romantic comedy is a tale of two people who believe in love, but seem to never be able to find its true meaning. In a wild twist of events, fate puts each in the other's path on a stormy New Year's Eve and comedy and chaos ensue.

Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul. is a 2022 satirical comedy film written, directed, and produced by Adamma Ebo, in her feature directorial debut. It is a feature-length adaptation of Ebo's 2018 short film of the same name. The film had its world premiere at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival on January 23rd, 2022.

The story of Trinitie Childs, the proud first lady of a Southern Baptist megachurch, who together with her husband, Pastor Lee-Curtis Childs, once served a congregation in the tens of thousands. But after a scandal forces their church to temporarily close, Trinitie and Lee-Curtis must reopen their church and rebuild their congregation to make the biggest comeback that commodified religion has ever seen.

The cast includes Regina Hall, Sterling K. Brown, Nicole Beharie, Conphidance, Austin Crute, and Devere Rogers.

The Patient is a 2022 psychological thriller limited series created by Joel Fields and Joe Weisberg, the showrunners of the hit series The Americans, and will consist of ten episodes.

Therapist Alan Strauss is held prisoner by a patient, Sam Fortner, who reveals himself to be a serial killer. Sam has an unusual therapeutic demand for Alan: curb his homicidal urges. In order to survive, Alan must unwind Sam’s disturbed mind and stop him from killing again.

The cast includes Steve Carell, Domhnall Gleeson, Linda Emond, David Alan Grier, Laura Niemi, Andrew Leeds, Alex Rich, and Amy Handelman.

Gigi & Nate is a 2022 coming-of-age drama film directed by Nick Hamm, from a screenplay by David Hudgins. The film is based on a true story of a quadriplegic and a capuchin monkey.

The story of Nate Gibson, a young man whose life is turned upside down after he suffers a near-fatal illness and is left a quadriplegic. Moving forward seems near impossible until he meets his unlikely service animal, Gigi -- a curious and intelligent capuchin monkey. Although she is trained to assist Nate with his basic needs, Gigi helps Nate find what he needs most of all: hope.

The cast includes Charlie Rowe, Marcia Gay Harden, Jim Belushi, Zoe Margaret Colletti, Josephine Langford, and Diane Ladd.

Three Thousand Years of Longing

Three Thousand Years of Longing is a 2022 fantasy film directed and co-written by George Miller, the visionary director who brought us the Mad Max films. It is an adaptation of the short story "The Djinn in the Nightingale's Eye" by A. S. Byatt. The film had its world premiere at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival on May 20, 2022.

A scholar, content with life, encounters a Djinn who offers her three wishes in exchange for his freedom. Their conversation, in a hotel room in Istanbul, leads to consequences neither would have expected.

The film stars Idris Elba and Tilda Swinton, Aamito Lagum, Nicolas Mouawad, and Matteo Bocelli.

The Invitation

The Invitation is a 2022 supernatural horror film written and directed by Jessica M. Thompson, co-written by Blair Butler, and produced by Emile Gladstone. Inspired by the novel Dracula by Bram Stoker, the film follows a young woman who, after her mother's death, meets her family for the first time, only to discover the dark secrets behind them.

After the death of her mother and having no other known relatives, Evie (Nathalie Emmanuel) takes a DNA test and discovers a long-lost cousin she never knew she had. Invited by her newfound family to a lavish wedding in the English countryside, she's at first seduced by the sexy aristocrat host but is soon thrust into a nightmare of survival as she uncovers twisted secrets in her family's history and the unsettling intentions behind their sinful generosity.

The film stars Nathalie Emmanuel, Thomas Doherty, Stephanie Corneliussen, Alana Boden, and Sean Pertwee.

Samaritan

Samaritan is an upcoming American superhero film directed by Julius Avery (Son of a Gun, Overlord), written by Bragi F. Schut, and starring Sylvester Stallone (Rocky, First Blood) in the title role, Javon Walton (Euphoria), Pilou Asbæk (Game of Thrones), Dascha Polanco (In the Heights), and Moises Arias (The King of Staten Island).

Described as a dark, new take on superhero movies, the story follows a young boy who comes to the realization that a famed superhero, who was thought to have gone missing after an epic battle twenty-five years ago, may in fact still be around. It was previously adapted into the Mythos Comics graphic novels by Schut, Marc Olivent, and Renzo Podesta. It is a co-production of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Balboa Productions.

Mo is a 2022 comedy drama series created by Mo Amer and Ramy Youssef and produced by A24. The character of Mo was previously seen in the Hulu original series, Rami.

Mo Najjar straddles the line between two cultures, three languages and a ton of foolishness as a Palestinian refugee constantly living one step away from asylum on the path to U.S. citizenship.

Beast

Beast is a 2022 survival thriller film directed by Baltasar Kormákur from a screenplay by Ryan Engle, based on a story by Jaime Primak Sullivan. Kormákur is no stranger to hard-hitting films, previously directing the survival thriller Everest (2015), as well as the action thriller 2 Guns (2013) starring Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg. On the writing side, Engle previously penned the screenplays for Non-Stop (2014), as well as three action thrillers in 2018, including The Commuter, Rampage, and Breaking In.

A recently widowed husband returns to South Africa, where he first met his wife, on a long-planned trip with his two young daughters to a game reserve managed by an old family friend and fellow wildlife biologist. Soon a ferocious, man-hunting lion begins attacking them and devouring anyone in its path.

The film stars Idris Elba, Sharlto Copley, Iyana Halley, Leah Sava Jeffries, and Riley Keough.

Bad Sisters (originally titled Emerald) is a dark comedy thriller series created by Sharon Horgan. Set between London and Dublin, it is based on the Flemish series Clan, which was created by Malin-Sarah Gozin.

The Garvey sisters are bound together by the premature deaths of their parents and the promises they made to always protect one another.

The series stars Sharon Horgan, alongside Anne-Marie Duff (Suffragette, The Salisbury Poisonings), Eva Birthistle (Brooklyn, The Last Kingdom), Sarah Greene (Frank of Ireland, Dublin Murders) and Eve Hewson (Behind her Eyes, The Luminaries) as the Garvey sisters.

Bodies Bodies Bodies is a 2022 black comedy slasher film directed by Halina Reijn. It is only the 2nd film directed by the Amsterdam native, an accomplished actress turned director. The screenplay was a collective effort between Sarah DeLappe, Kristen Roupenian, Chloe Okuno, Josh Sharp, and Aaron Jackson. The film had its world premiere at South by Southwest on March 14, 2022.

When a group of rich 20-somethings plan a hurricane party at a remote family mansion, a party game turns deadly in this fresh and funny look at backstabbing, fake friends, and one party gone very, very wrong.

The cast includes Amandla Stenberg, Maria Bakalova, Pete Davidson, Rachel Sennott, Myha'la Herrold, Chase Sui Wonders, and Lee Pace.
