Falling for Christmas

Falling for Christmas is a 2022 holiday romantic comedy film directed by Janeen Damian, in her directorial debut, from a screenplay by Jeff Bonnett and Ron Oliver. It marks Lohan's first role in a major production in over a decade following a series of career setbacks while recovering from addiction and legal issues.

A newly engaged, spoiled hotel heiress gets into a skiing accident, suffers from total amnesia and finds herself in the care of a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner and his precocious daughter in the days leading up to Christmas.

The film stars Lindsay Lohan, Chord Overstreet, George Young, Jack Wagner, and Olivia Perez.

The Friendship Game is a 2022 horror thriller directed by Scooter Corkle, from a screenplay by Damien Ober.

Teens in a small town come across an object with mysterious cosmic powers and a baffling sort of consciousness. Over the course of a night, the object tests their loyalties and unravels the mystery about their missing friend.

The cast includes Peyton List, Brendan Meyer, Kelcey Mawema, Kaitlyn Santa Juana, and Dylan Schombing.

Armageddon Time

Armageddon Time is a 2022 period drama film written, directed, and produced by James Gray, inspired by his childhood upbringing in Queens, New York, in the 1980s. The film was shot in New Jersey with cinematographer Darius Khondji, and premiered at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival on May 19th, 2022.

A deeply personal coming-of-age story about the strength of family and the generational pursuit of the American Dream.

The cast includes Anne Hathaway, Jeremy Strong, Banks Repeta, Jaylin Webb, and Anthony Hopkins.

The Estate

The Estate is a 2022 comedy written and directed by Dean Craig (Death at a Funeral), and is produced by Marc Goldberg, Sarah Gabriel, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Alison Benson.

Two sisters try to win over their terminally ill, difficult-to-please aunt in hopes of becoming the beneficiaries of her wealthy estate, only to find the rest of their greedy family has the same idea.

The talented cast includes Toni Collette, Anna Farris, David Duchovny, Rosemarie DeWitt, Ron Livingston, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, and Kathleen Turner.

My Policeman

My Policeman is an upcoming romantic drama film directed by Michael Grandage. It is based on the novel of the same name by Bethan Roberts. It stars Harry Styles (Dunkirk, Eternals), Emma Corrin (The Crown), Gina Mckee (Notting Hill, Phantom Thread), Linus Roache (Vikings), David Dawson (The Last Kingdom), and Rupert Everett (My Best Friend’s Wedding).

Set in the 1950s in Brighton, a gay policeman named Tom (Styles) marries a school teacher named Marion (Corrin) while being in a relationship with Patrick (Dawson), a museum curator. The secret they share threatens to ruin them all.

It is scheduled to premiere at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival, before going into limited release in the United States on October 21, 2022. It will then be available to stream two weeks later on Amazon Prime Video. Watch the official trailers below.

Causeway

Causeway is a 2022 psychological drama directed by Lila Neugebauer, from a screenplay by Elizabeth Sanders, Luke Goebel, and Ottessa Moshfegh. The film had its world premiere at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival on September 10, 2022.

Lynsey, a U.S. soldier, experiences a traumatic brain injury during her tour in Afghanistan which forces her to return home. She struggles to return to her daily life with her mother as she waits for her eventual redeployment.

The cast includes Jennifer Lawrence, Brian Tyree Henry, Linda Emond, Stephen McKinley Henderson, and Jayne Houdyshell.

Blockbuster

Blockbuster is a 2022 workplace comedy series created by Vanessa Ramos, who serves as showrunner and executive producer. Ramos is best known for her work on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Superstore, and Kenan.

Operating the last Blockbuster Video store in the United States, Timmy Yoon (Randall Park) and his employees fight to stay relevant.

The cast includes Randall Park, Melissa Fumero, Olga Merediz, Tyler Alvaerz, Madeleine Arthur, and J.B. Smoove.

Prey for the Devil

Prey for the Devil is a 2022 supernatural horror film directed by Daniel Stamm (The Last Exorcism, 13 Sins) and written by Robert Zappia (Halloween H20), based on a story by Todd R. Jones and Earl Richey Jones. It is the final film to feature actor Ben Cross before his death in 2020, and is dedicated to his memory.

In response to a global rise in demonic possessions, the Catholic Church reopens exorcism schools to train priests in the Rite of Exorcism. On this spiritual battlefield, an unlikely warrior rises: a young nun, Sister Ann. Although nuns are forbidden to perform exorcisms, a professor recognizes Sister Ann’s gifts and agrees to train her. Thrust onto the spiritual frontline with fellow student Father Dante, Sister Ann finds herself in a battle for the soul of a young girl, who Sister Ann believes is possessed by the same demon that tormented her own mother years ago, and soon realizes the Devil has her right where he wants her… and it wants in.

The film stars Jacqueline Byers, Colin Salmon, Christian Navarro, Lisa Palfrey, Nicholas Ralph, Virginia Madsen, and Ben Cross.

Till

Till is an upcoming American biographical drama film directed by Chinonye Chukwu (director of Clemency) and written by Michael Reilly, Keith Beauchamp, and Chukwu. It stars Danielle Deadwyler (The Harder They Fall, Station Eleven), Jalyn Hall, Frankie Faison (The Wire), Haley Bennett (Cyrano), and Whoopi Goldberg (Sister Act).

The film tells the real-life story of Mamie Till-Mobley (Deadwyler), an American educator and activist who pursued justice after the lynching of her 14-year-old son, Emmett Till (Hall), in 1955. Beauchamp, Reilly, and Goldberg also produced the film.

Till is set to premiere at the New York Film Festival in 2022. It is scheduled for a limited theatrical release on October 14th before a wide release on October 28th, by United Artists Releasing. Watch the official trailer below.

The Good Nurse

The Good Nurse is a 2022 American crime drama film directed by Tobias Lindholm (writer of The Hunt and Another Round) and written by Krysty Wilson-Cairns (1917, Last Night in Soho), based on the 2013 book of the same name by Charles Graeber. The film stars Jessica Chastain (Molly’s Game, It Chapter Two), Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything, Fantastic Beasts film series), Nnamdi Asomugha (former NFL player who recently starred in Sylvie’s Love), Kim Dickens (Gone Girl, Fear the Walking Dead), and Noah Emmerich (The Truman Show, Little Children).

Amy (Chastain), a compassionate nurse and single mother struggling with a life-threatening heart condition, is stretched to her physical and emotional limits by the hard and demanding night shifts at the ICU. But help arrives when Charlie Cullen (Redmayne), a thoughtful and empathetic fellow nurse, starts at her unit. While sharing long nights at the hospital, the two develop a strong and devoted friendship, and for the first time in years, Amy truly has faith in her and her young daughter's future. But after a series of mysterious patient deaths sets off an investigation that points to Charlie as the prime suspect, Amy is forced to risk her life and the safety of her children to uncover the truth.

The Good Nurse had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 11, 2022, and is scheduled to be released in select theaters in the United States on October 19, 2022, before its streaming release on October 26, by Netflix. Watch the official trailer below.

TÁR

Tár (stylized in all caps as TÁR) is a 2022 psychological drama film written and directed by Todd Field and starring Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmine, Carol). It is Field's first film since the release of Little Children (2006). The cast also includes Noémie Merlant (Portrait of a Lady on Fire), Nina Hoss (Homeland), Sophie Kauer, Julian Glover (The Empire Strikes Back), Allan Corduner (Yentl), and Mark Strong (Kingsman: The Secret Service, Shazam!).

The film, set in the international world of classical music, centers on Lydia Tár (Blanchett), widely considered one of the greatest living composers/conductors and the first-ever female chief conductor of a major German orchestra.

Tár premiered at the 79th Venice International Film Festival on September 1, 2022, and is scheduled to receive a limited theatrical release on October 7th before a wide release on October 28th, by Focus Features. Watch the official trailers below.

All Quiet on the Western Front

All Quiet on the Western Front is a 2022 German epic anti-war film based on the 1929 novel of the same name by Erich Maria Remarque. Directed by Edward Berger, it stars Daniel Brühl (Inglourious Basterds, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier), Albrecht Schuch, Sebastian Hülk, Felix Kammerer, Aaron Hilmer, Edin Hasanovic, and Devid Striesow.

Set in the closing years of World War I, it follows the life of German soldier Paul Bäumer (Kammerer), who, after enlisting in the German Army with his friends, finds himself at risk to the realities of war, shattering their earliest hopes of becoming heroes.

In August 2022, the film was announced as Germany's submission for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film at the 95th Academy Awards.

Wendell & Wild

Wendell & Wild is a 2022 American stop-motion horror comedy film directed by Henry Selick (The Nightmare Before Christmas, James and the Giant Peach) from a screenplay written by Selick and Jordan Peele (who also serve as producers), based on Selick and Clay McLeod Chapman's unpublished book of the same name. It stars Keegan-Michael Key (Keanu, The Prom) and Peele (director of Get Out, Us, and Nope) as the titular characters with Lyric Ross (This Is Us), Angela Bassett (Black Panther), James Hong (Chinatown), and Ving Rhames (Mission: Impossible franchise) in supporting roles. The film marks Selick's first feature film since Coraline (2009).

Two scheming demon brothers, Wendell and Wild (Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele), enlist the aid of 13-year-old Kat Elliot (Lyric Ross), a tough teen with a load of guilt, to summon them to the Land of the Living. But what Kat demands in return leads to a brilliantly bizarre and comedic adventure like no other.

Wendell & Wild had its world premiere at the 47th Toronto International Film Festival on September 11, 2022, and is scheduled to be released in select theaters on October 21 before its streaming release on October 28 by Netflix. Watch the official teaser trailer below.

Call Jane

Call Jane is a 2022 comedy drama film directed by Phyllis Nagy, and written by Hayley Schore and Rohan Sethi. Inspired by true events, Nagy’s film captures the essence of late-Sixties social change via one woman’s quest to get a safe and legal abortion. The film premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival on January 21, 2022.

Chicago, 1968. As the city and the nation are poised on the brink of political upheaval, suburban housewife Joy (Elizabeth Banks) leads an ordinary life with her husband and daughter. When Joy’s pregnancy leads to a life-threatening heart condition, she must navigate an all-male medical establishment unwilling to terminate her pregnancy in order to save her life.

The full cast includes Elizabeth Banks, Sigourney Weaver, Chris Messina, Kate Mara, Wunmi Mosaku, Cory Michael Smith, Grace Edwards, and John Magaro.

From Scratch is a 2022 drama limited series created by Attica Locke and Tembi Locke for Netflix, inspired by Tembi Locke's memoir From Scratch: A Memoir of Love, Sicily and Finding Home. Attica Locke serves as showrunner of the series, with Reese Witherspoon, Lauren Neustadter, Richard Abate, Jermaine Johnson, and Will Rowbotham serving as executive producers.

Amahle "Amy" Wheeler, an American student studying in Italy, meets and falls in love with Lino, a Sicilian chef. When Lino faces health issues and the couple's future is threatened, the two families come together.

The cast includes Zoe Saldaña, Eugenio Mastrandrea, Danielle Deadwyler, Keith David, Kellita Smith, Judith Scott, Lucia Sardo, Paride Benassai, and Roberta Rigano.

Black Adam

Black Adam is a 2022 superhero film based on the DC Comics character of the same name, directed by Jaume Collet-Serra from a screenplay by Adam Sztykiel, Rory Haines, and Sohrab Noshirvani. Collet-Serra, who had his directorial debut back in 2005 with the horror thriller The House of Wax, recently directed the hit Disney action adventure film Jungle Cruise, also starring Dwayne Johnson. Black Adam is intended to be a spin-off of Shazam! (2019), and the eleventh film in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU).

Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the Egyptian gods -- and imprisoned just as quickly -- Black Adam is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.

The cast includes Dwayne Johnson as Teth-Adam / Black Adam alongside Noah Centineo, Aldis Hodge, Sarah Shahi, Quintessa Swindell, Pierce Brosnan, and Mohammed Amer.

Ticket to Paradise is a 2022 romantic comedy film directed by Ol Parker and written by Parker and Daniel Pipski. The film had its world premiere in Barcelona on September 8, 2022. Stars George Clooney and Julia Roberts also serve as executive producers.

Two divorced parents, David and Georgia Cotton, travel to Bali after learning that their daughter, Lily, is planning to marry a man named Gede, whom she has just met. They decide to work together to sabotage the wedding to prevent Lily from making the same mistake they made twenty-five years ago.

The cast includes George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Kaitlyn Dever, Maxime Bouttier, Billie Lourd, and Sean Lynch.

Raymond & Ray

Raymond & Ray is a 2022 comedy-drama film written and directed by Rodrigo García (Last Days in the Desert, In Treatment) and starring Ewan McGregor (Trainspotting, Doctor Sleep) and Ethan Hawke (Training Day, Boyhood) as Raymond and Ray respectively. It is produced by the two-time Academy Award-winning director Alfonso Cuarón (Gravity, Roma) and also stars Maribel Verdú (Pan’s Labyrinth) and Sophie Okonedo (Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls) in supporting roles.

The film follows half-brothers Raymond and Ray, who reunite when their estranged father dies and discover that his final wish was for them to dig his grave. Together, they process who they’ve become as men, both because of their father and in spite of him.

It had its world premiere at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival on September 12, 2022. It is scheduled to be released in limited theaters on October 14, 2022, before releasing on Apple TV+ on October 21. Watch the official trailer below.

The Banshees of Inisherin

The Banshees of Inisherin is an upcoming drama film written and directed by Martin McDonagh (In Bruges, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri). It sees McDonagh reunite with his In Bruges stars Colin Farrell (The Batman, The Lobster) and Brendan Gleeson (Harry Potter films series, Paddington 2), and it also stars Kerry Condon (Rome, Better Call Saul) and Barry Keoghan (Dunkirk, Eternals) in supporting roles.

The film follows two lifelong friends who find themselves at an impasse when one abruptly ends their relationship, which leads to alarming consequences for both of them.

It is scheduled to have its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival on September 4, 2022, and is scheduled to be released in the United States on October 21, 2022, by Searchlight Pictures. Watch the official trailer below.
