Beau Is Afraid

Beau Is Afraid is a 2023 comedy horror film written, directed, and produced by Ari Aster. It was co-produced and distributed by A24 as the company's third collaboration with Aster, after Hereditary (2018) and Midsommar (2019). The film was previously titled Disappointment Blvd.

Described by A24 as a “decades-spanning surrealist horror film set in an alternate present. The story of an extremely anxious but pleasant-looking man who has a fraught relationship with his overbearing mother and never knew his father. When his mother dies, he makes a journey home that involves some wild supernatural threats.”

The cast includes Joaquin Phoenix, Nathan Lane, Amy Ryan, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zoe Lister-Jones, Armen Nahapetian, with Parker Posey, and Patti LuPone.

Guy Ritchie's The Covenant

Guy Ritchie's The Covenant is a 2023 war action drama directed by Guy Ritchie, who co-wrote the screenplay with Ivan Atkinson, and Marn Davis. The film was originally titled The Interpreter.

During the war in Afghanistan, a local interpreter risks his own life to carry an injured sergeant across miles of grueling terrain.

The cast includes Jake Gyllenhaal, Dar Salim, Alexander Ludwig, Anthony Starr, Jason Wong, and Emily Beecham.

Evil Dead Rise

Evil Dead Rise is a 2023 supernatural horror film written and directed by Lee Cronin. The film serves as the fifth installment in the Evil Dead franchise.

A road-weary Beth pays an overdue visit to her older sister Ellie, who is raising three kids on her own in a cramped L.A. apartment. The sisters' reunion is cut short by the discovery of a mysterious book deep in the bowels of Ellie's building, giving rise to flesh-possessing demons, and thrusting Beth into a primal battle for survival as she is faced with the most nightmarish version of motherhood imaginable.

The film stars Alyssa Sutherland, Lily Sullivan, Gabrielle Echols, Morgan Davies, Nell Fisher, and Mia Challis.

Originally intended for a digital release on HBO Max, Evil Dead Rise is scheduled to be released theatrically on April 21, 2023, by Warner Bros. Pictures. Watch the official unrated trailer below.

Ghosted is a 2023 romantic comedy action-adventure film directed by Dexter Fletcher, and written by Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Chris McKenna, and Erik Sommers, from a story by Reese and Wernick. The film is produced by Apple Studios and Skydance Media.

Salt-of-the-earth Cole (Evans) falls head over heels for enigmatic Sadie (de Armas)—but then makes the shocking discovery that she’s a secret agent. Before they can decide on a second date, Cole and Sadie are swept away on an international adventure to save the world.

The cast includes Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Adrien Brody, Mike Moh, Tim Blake Nelson, Marwan Kenzari, Amy Sedaris, and Tate Donovan.

Mrs. Davis

Mrs. Davis is a 2023 science fiction drama television series created by Tara Hernandez and Damon Lindelof. It premiered at South by Southwest (SXSW) on March 11th, 2023, before its debut on Peacock on April 20th, 2023.

After being ousted from her convent, Sister Simone vows to destroy the one responsible: a powerful artificial intelligence known as Mrs. Davis. To exact her revenge, Simone makes a deal with the algorithm and is thrust into a dangerous world of secret societies, religious conspiracies and age-old legends as she searches for the whereabouts of the most clichéd and overused MacGuffin -- the Holy Grail.

The cast includes Betty Gilpin, Jake McDorman, Andy McQueen, Ben Chaplin, Margo Martindale, David Arquette, and Elizabeth Marvel.

Renfield

Renfield is an upcoming 2023 American comedy horror film directed by Chris McKay (The Lego Batman Movie, The Tomorrow War) from a screenplay by Ryan Ridley, based on an original idea by Robert Kirkman, who is best known for creating The Walking Dead and Invincible for Image Comics. It is a reboot of Universal's Dracula series. The film stars Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max: Fury Road, The Menu) as the titular character, alongside Nicolas Cage (Kick-Ass, National Treasure), Awkwafina (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, The Farwell), Ben Schwartz (Sonic the Hedgehog, Parks and Recreation), and Adrian Martinez (The Amazing Spider-Man 2, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty).

Having grown sick and tired of his centuries as Dracula’s (Cage) lackey, Renfield (Hoult) finds a new lease on life — and maybe even redemption — when he falls for feisty, perennially angry traffic cop Rebecca Quincy (Awkwafina).

Mafia Mamma is a 2023 action comedy film directed by Catherine Hardwicke (Lords of Dogtown, Twilight, Miss Bala), from a screenplay by Michael J. Feldman and Debbie Jhoon. Is is based on an original story by Amanda Sthers.

While seeing to her long estranged (and now deceased) grandfather’s affairs in Italy, a mild mannered suburban mom unexpectedly inherits his mafia empire and finds herself stuck in the middle of a deadly mob war. Guided by the firm’s trusted consigliere, she hilariously defies everyone’s expectations, including her own, as the new head of the family business.

The cast includes Toni Collette, Monica Bellucci, Giulio Corso, Eduardo Scarpetta, Rob Huebel, and Livia De Paolis.

Inspired by the actual files of Father Gabriele Amorth, Chief Exorcist of the Vatican (Academy Award®-winner Russell Crowe), The Pope’s Exorcist follows Amorth as he investigates a young boy’s terrifying possession and ends up uncovering a centuries-old conspiracy the Vatican has desperately tried to keep hidden.

The cast includes Russell Crowe, Daniel Zovatto, Alex Essoe, and Franco Nero.

One Day as a Lion

One Day as a Lion is a 2023 crime drama comedy film directed by John Swab (Ida Red), from a screenplay by Scott Caan. The film is described as a homage to films from directors like Quentin Tarantino and the Coen brothers.

Jackie Powers (Scott Caan) is a nice guy but a lousy hit man, and when he’s sent to take out a crafty debtor (J.K. Simmons), Jackie only pisses him off. Fleeing the scene, Jackie takes bored waitress Lola as a hostage. When Jackie reveals he needs money to get his son out of jail, Lola cooks up a scheme for them to get cash from her dying mother (Virginia Madsen). Meanwhile, a thug sent to kill him is sleeping with Jackie’s ex.

The cast includes Scott Caan, Frank Grillo, Marianne Rendón, Taryn Manning, George Carroll, Virginia Madsen, and J.K. Simmons.

The Last Thing He Told Me

The Last Thing He Told Me is a 2023 drama thriller television miniseries for Apple TV+, based on the novel of the same name by Laura Dave. The miniseries is created by Dave and Josh Singer, with Dave adapting the screenplay. Apple TV+ acquired the series during a competitive bidding war.

This gripping limited series follows Hannah, a woman who must forge a relationship with her 16-year-old stepdaughter Bailey in order to find the truth about why her husband has mysteriously disappeared.

Based on the #1 New York Times bestselling novel, the series is created and adapted by author Laura Dave, alongside series co-creator, Academy Award winner Josh Singer. Garner also serves as executive producer alongside Hello Sunshine’s Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter.

Air

Air is a 2023 biographical comedy drama film directed by Ben Affleck, and written by Alex Convery. Convery, who’s IMDb bio is basically non-existent, had his original script Air Jordan appear on the film industries Black List. Distributed by Amazon Studios, this is the first film produced by Affleck and Damon's new company, Artists Equity.

The film tells the story of the unbelievable game-changing partnership between a then-rookie Michael Jordan and Nike's fledgling basketball division which revolutionized the world of sports and contemporary culture with the Air Jordan brand. This moving story follows the career-defining gamble of an unconventional team with everything on the line, the uncompromising vision of a mother who knows the worth of her son’s immense talent, and the basketball phenom who would become the greatest of all time.

The cast includes Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Chris Tucker, Viola Davis, Jason Bateman, Marlon Wayans, Chris Messina, and Gustaf Skarsgård.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie

The Super Mario Bros. Movie is a 2023 computer animated action adventure comedy film directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic (collaborators on Teen Titans Go!, Teen Titans Go! To the Movies) from a screenplay by Matthew Fogel (Minions: The Rise of Gru, The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part). It is the franchise's third film adaptation, following the Japanese anime film Super Mario Bros.: The Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach! (1986) and the live-action film Super Mario Bros. (1993).

While working underground to fix a water main, Brooklyn plumbers Mario and brother Luigi are transported down a mysterious pipe and wander into a magical new world. But when the brothers are separated, Mario embarks on an epic quest to find Luigi.

The cast includes Chris Pratt as Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Jack Black as Bowser, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek, and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike, plus a special voice appearance by Charles Martinet, who has voiced the characters of Mario and Luigi in the Super Mario games for more than 30 years.

The series is delivered by the incredible and accomplished A24 Studios, with Steven Yeun and Ali Wong also serving as executive producers.

A road rage incident between two strangers — a failing contractor and an unfulfilled entrepreneur — sparks a feud that brings out their darkest impulses.

Tiny Beautiful Things is a 2023 coming-of-age drama series from the executive producers of Little Fires Everywhere, The Morning Show, and Big Little Lies.

Based on the best-selling collection by Cheryl Strayed, Tiny Beautiful Things follows Clare (Kathryn Hahn) a writer who becomes a revered advice columnist while her own life is falling apart.

When we first meet Clare, her marriage to her husband Danny is barely limping along; her teenage daughter, Rae, is pushing her away; and her once-promising writing career is non-existent. So when an old writing pal asks her to take over as the advice columnist Dear Sugar, she thinks she has no business giving anyone advice. After reluctantly taking on the mantle of Sugar however, Clare's life unfurls in a complex fabric of memory, exploring her most pivotal moments from childhood through present day, and excavating the beauty, struggle, and humor in her unhealed wounds. How to Blow Up a Pipeline

How to Blow Up a Pipeline is a 2023 environmentalist action film directed by Daniel Goldhaber, who co-wrote the screenplay with Ariela Barer and Jordan Sjol. It relies on ideas advanced in Andreas Malm's 2021 book of the same name, published by Verso Books. It stars Barer, Kristine Froseth, Lukas Gage, Forrest Goodluck, Sasha Lane, Jayme Lawson, Marcus Scribner, Jake Weary, and Irene Bedard.

Malm's book is a work of nonfiction that uses a history of social justice movements to argue that property destruction should be considered a valid tactic in the pursuit of environmental justice. The film, set primarily in West Texas, follows a crew of young environmentalist activists as they attempt to execute a daring mission to sabotage an oil pipeline.

The film premiered in the Platform Prize program at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival on September 10, 2022. After its premiere, NEON acquired the North American distribution rights, and it is scheduled to be released in the United States on April 7, 2023.

School Spirits is a 2023 teen drama television series created by Megan Trinrud and Nate Trinrud. The series is adapted from the forthcoming graphic novel by the Trinruds and Maria Nguyen.

Maddie is a teen girl stuck in the afterlife investigating her own mysterious disappearance; she goes on a crime-solving journey as she adjusts to school in the afterlife, but the closer she gets to the truth, the more secrets and lies she discovers.

The cast includes Peyton List, Kristian Flores, Milo Manheim, Spencer MacPherson, Kiara Pichardo, Sarah Yarkin, Nick Pugliese, and Rainbow Wedell.

Paint is a 2023 comedy written and directed by Brit McAdams, and features a character very similar to TV icon Bob Ross, who helmed PBS’ instructional TV program “The Joy of Painting” from 1983 to 1994. Ross passed away in 1995 at 52 years old.

Owen Wilson stars as Carl Nargle, Vermont's #1 public TV painter who is convinced he has it all: a signature perm, custom van, and fans hanging on his every stroke… until a younger, better artist steals everything (and everyone) Carl loves.

The cast includes Owen Wilson, Michaela Watkins, Wendi McLendon-Covey, and Ciara Renée

Rye Lane

Rye Lane is a 2023 British romantic comedy-drama film directed by Raine Allen-Miller in her feature directorial debut from a screenplay by Nathan Bryon and Tom Melia. The film stars David Jonsson and Vivian Oparah in the lead roles. Also, with it being set in the South London areas of Peckham and Brixton, the film is titled after the real-life Rye Lane.

Two-twenty-somethings, both reeling from bad break-ups, connect over the course of an eventful day in South London - helping each other deal with their nightmare exes, and potentially restoring their faith in romance.

Rye Lane had its world premiere at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival on January 23, 2023, and was released in the United Kingdom on March 31, 2023, by Searchlight Pictures, before coming to Hulu on March 31, 2023. Watch the official trailer below.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is an upcoming American fantasy action-adventure comedy film co-written and directed by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley (Vacation, Game Night), based on the tabletop role-playing game, Dungeons & Dragons. The film is set in the campaign setting of the Forgotten Realms. The film has no connections to the trilogy released between 2000 and 2012.

The film stars Chris Pine (Star Trek, Hell or High Water), Michelle Rodriguez (Fast & Furious franchise, S.W.A.T.), Regé-Jean Page (Bridgerton, The Gray Man), Justice Smith (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Pokémon Detective Pikachu), Sophia Lillis (It, It: Chapter Two), and Hugh Grant (Four Weddings and a Funeral, The Gentlemen).

A Thousand and One is a 2023 drama film written and directed by A.V. Rockwell. It had its world premiere at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival on January 22nd, winning the Grand Jury Prize.

Unapologetic and free-spirited Inez kidnaps her six-year-old son Terry from the foster care system. Holding onto their secret and each other, mother and son set out to reclaim their sense of home, identity, and stability, in a rapidly changing New York City.

The cast includes Teyana Taylor, Will Catlett, Josiah Cross, Aven Courtney, and Aaron Kingsley Adetola.
