Movies We Are Excited To See In February

February 6, 2025

HEART EYES

GENRE: Horror | Slasher | Dark Comedy

RATING: R

CAST: Olivia Holt, Mason Gooding, Gigi Zumbado, Michaela Watkins, with Devon Sawa, and Jordana Brewster.

RELEASE DATE: February 7th, 2025 (Theaters)

I am a horror and slasher fanatic so naturally HEART EYES had my attention from the jump. This just looks like a ton of fun for fans of the genre. The film feels like a throwback to old school slashers and reminds me of the 2023 horror slasher Thanksgiving (our full review here), which is currently streaming on Netflix. Plus the fact that it is releasing during Valentines Day and is about a killer who preys on couples is a nice touch. Check out the trailer below.

BRING THEM DOWN

GENRE: Drama | Thriller

RATING: R

CAST: Barry Keoghan, Christopher Abbott, Nora-Jane Noone, Paul Ready, Aaron Heffernan, Conor McNeill, Susan Lynch, and Colm Meaney.

RELEASE DATE: February 7th, 2025 (Theaters)

If you follow this page you’d know that we love indie films in general, and BRING THEM DOWN features two of the most underrated actors working today in Barry Keoghan and Christopher Abbott. The film looks intense and absolutely beautiful at the same time, which is a perk of shooting a film in Ireland. Plus I just can’t get enough of the revenge thriller genre. Hopefully the film hits a few theaters near me, otherwise I will be snagging it VOD as soon as it becomes available. Check out the trailer below.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD

GENRE: Superhero | Action | Adventure

RATING: PG-13

CAST: Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Xosha Roquemore, Carl Lumbly, Giancarlo Esposito, Liv Tyler, Tim Blake Nelson, and Harrison Ford.

RELEASE DATE: February 14th, 2025 (Theaters)

I’m not sure I need to really explain this one because it should be obvious. CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD is part of MCU Phase 5, which was kicked off by Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania (our full review here). You can’t replace Chris Evans obviously but I think the movie looks great and I do have high hopes that Marvel will go all out and start this new year strong. Plus I love the casting of my guy Harrison Ford, an absolute legend. Check out the trailer below.

THE MONKEY

DIRECTOR: Osgood Perkins

GENRE: Horror | Dark Comedy

RATING: R

CAST: Theo James, Tatiana Maslany, Elijah Wood, Christian Convery, Colin O'Brien, Rohan Campbell, and Sarah Levy.

RELEASE DATE: February 21st, 2025 (Theaters)

I mean, this is another one that should be pretty obvious. Horror. Check. Stephen King. Double check. Based on a short story from the man himself, this movie looks absolutely awesome. I love that Osgood Perkins is in the directors chair fresh from the incredible horror film Longlegs (our full review here). Perkins has an eye for horror, and even though this looks a bit more wacky in comparison to a true gritty horror film, it looks awesome. I mean the trailer has me chomping at the bit and I simply cannot wait to see this. Check out the trailer below.

CLEANER

DIRECTOR: Martin Campbell

GENRE: Action | Drama | Thriller

RATING: R

CAST: Daisy Ridley, Clive Owen, Taz Skylar, Flavia Watson, Ray Fearon, Rufus Jones, Richard Hope, and Lee Boardman.

RELEASE DATE: February 21st, 2025 (Theaters)

I’m not going to sit here and act like I am super amped up for this movie, especially considering I only just heard about it a few weeks ago, but it looks good. First off I really like Daisy Ridley as an actress and she can definitely play the badass role no problem, and even though Clive Owen has fallen off a bit as of late I still think he is a very good actor. Judging by the trailer the film seems fast-paced and packed with action, and director Martin Campbell is no slouch either having directed several great films including GoldenEye, Casino Royale, and Edge of Darkness. I’m confident this will be a movie meant to be experienced in theaters. Check out the trailer below.

MY DEAD FRIEND ZOE

DIRECTOR: Kyle Hausmann-Stokes

GENRE: Drama | Dark Comedy | War

RATING: R

CAST: Sonequa Martin-Green, Natalie Morales, Ed Harris, Morgan Freeman (U.S. Air Force veteran), Utkarsh Ambudkar, and Gloria Reuben.

RELEASE DATE: February 28th, 2025 (Theaters)

I am an absolute sucker for a good coming-of-age film that tugs at the old heart strings, and this looks like one that has it all. I also love well-crafted war films, The Hurt Locker is one of my favorites, and I genuinely appreciate movies that touch on PTSD and just how hard it can be for people who experienced some really messed up stuff to acclimate back to society. The fact that director Kyle Hausmann-Stokes is a veteran himself and has opened up about how personal this project is for him really has my excitement level through the roof. I can’t wait to see this movie and I hope they are able to make it a wide release. Check out the trailer below.
